For this Zhoushan travel photography session, I brought along a 135mm telephoto lens. I was initially worried that the beach environment would limit the lens's potential, but it turned out to be unexpectedly photogenic. The spatial compression brought by the telephoto lens blends the background waves and sky just right, making the character feel more prominent in the frame; we didn't need to stand very close during the shoot to capture natural movements and expressions.
The Changli Cosplay costume for this shoot, with its lightweight gauze fabric and pink-and-white gradient design, reveals a light and airy texture under natural light. Especially when the sea breeze blows the skirt hem and hair strands, dynamic snapshots have much more vitality than a studio shoot. Holding a bouquet and standing in the shallow water for a few poses were entirely improvised on-site; the advantage of travel photography lies exactly in this fluid randomness.
However, the wind by the sea was indeed very strong, so the wig and sleeves had to be adjusted from time to time, but for the sake of the final visual effect, these details were completely worth it. The bokeh capability of the 135mm lens is also very practical, softly blurring the shoreline rocks and the distraction of tourists, beautifully highlighting the silhouette of the subject for this Anime-style photography experience. Looking back at this set of photos now, I feel that Changli's cool yet gentle temperament has been perfectly integrated into the sea-and-sky backdrop. It was a very comfortable shooting experience.
