[Castorice cosplay] Captured the most beautiful starry sea of flowers in Honkai: Star Rail

The creation process of this photo set was definitely a bittersweet joy. In the first picture, the large white scythe I'm holding might look quite light and airy on camera, but in reality, that prop is super heavy—the layered materials and structure made holding it truly exhausting. On the day of the shoot, I repeatedly lifted and lowered it in the field until my arms and shoulders were completely sore. No wonder everyone says "those who cosplay Castorice are tough-talkers," because only when you actually put on this outfit and pick up these props do you realize how hard it is to maintain an effortless, elegant composure.

But when I saw the finished photos captured by the photographer, I felt that all the hard work was completely worth it. The purple-toned starry night and starry sea of flowers atmosphere created in the final photos matched the ethereal and poetic vibe of this character exceptionally well. Especially in the second picture, the moment I lifted my skirt with both hands and turned around, a gust of wind blew by, making my wig and long streamers dance behind me. Though holding the heavy scythe at that moment was exhausting, the moment the skirt fluttered to reveal my leg line, I felt the tension of the pose was perfectly frozen in time. Special thanks to the photographer for catching the shot and the post-production editor for delicate color adjustments that made the starry sky and foreground flowers look so dreamy.

Actually, this Cosplay outfit has a ton of details: the crisscross straps on the upper body, the layered white and purple skirt, the cutout white thigh-high stockings, and the elven pointed ears. To achieve an accurate anime recreation, this custom costume underwent numerous adjustments in terms of material and tailoring. The large blocks of purple and white are very sensitive to light, making nighttime outdoor lighting exceptionally demanding. I had to constantly adjust my posture and try various hand-raising angles, all to present that nonchalant yet eye-catching feel in front of the mirror and camera. Although I briefly considered giving up on challenging poses halfway through due to the heavy prop, I bit the bullet and persevered.

Looking back, the starry theme aligns with this character remarkably well. The quote at the beginning of the post, "If death is inevitable, I hope it is more beautiful," served as the core theme driving our shoot. Against the dark night sky background, I hoped the visuals conveyed more than just a Cosplay outdoor shoot, but rather a sense of tranquility and tragic beauty faithful to the character's setting. To capture this atmosphere, we specifically chose a wild outdoor flower field in the suburbs to avoid the stiff feeling of artificial sets. During post-processing, we avoided overly saturated or gaudy colors, maintaining a cool-toned glowing purple instead.

Reflecting on it, whenever I cosplay characters requiring extensive outdoor shooting and reflector lighting, there are always numerous challenges—such as mosquitoes during night shoots, muddy ground, and transporting large props. But when the final photos are right before my eyes, all discomfort is diluted by that dreamy visual impact. Within the fan-creation community of Honkai: Star Rail, Castorice naturally carries a unique aesthetic tone. Being able to restore this atmospheric vibe to the best of my ability gives me a great sense of achievement. This post is mainly to record the hardship and rewards of the shoot; looking at my figure captured in this veil-like beautiful artwork, the feeling of inner satisfaction is truly fulfilling.
