This shoot was set in a traditional Chinese courtyard rich in ancient charm, with an overall atmosphere that was quiet and rustic. During the planning stage, I was deeply drawn to Azur Lane Akimitsu's qipao look, wishing to express her unique blend of cool detachment and valiant presence through visual photographic language.

The outfit's details were the utmost priority of this look. The top features a black lace halterneck design with lightweight, breathable fabric that reveals a subtle sheer texture under illumination, complemented by a sapphire embellishment at the chest neckline that enriches the overall layering significantly. The lower skirt is a jacquard long dress in deep-sea blue with an excellent drape, which, paired with exaggerated cyan-blue feather sleeve ornaments on both arms, delivers a powerful visual impact. To suit the Chinese style, this costume underwent many subtle adjustments based on original character elements—such as black leather gloves paired with feathers and a metal thigh ring on the leg—all retaining the character's sharp yet proudly aloof traits.

On shooting day, the primary task was coordinating props and posing. The angle at which the black folding fan opened and closed in my hand was crucial: it had to remain natural while corresponding to my overall positioning. To express the character's unhurried composure, I tried several different weight-shifting angles while seated on the chair. Poses like the one in the final set—with legs crossed, holding a folding fan to partially veil my face, combined with subtle wandering eye contact—perfectly captured a slightly languid yet confident charm on the character. The extent to which the fan opened also affected the balance of the image, requiring continuous fine-tuning from the photographer.

In terms of scene pairing, the wooden armchair, window lattices, bamboo branches alongside, and scattered dry vines on the tabletop formed a striking contrast between warm and cool tones against the subject's cool-toned blue and black attire. Sunlight pouring onto skin, combined with soft environmental fill light, made the skin tone look wonderfully translucent, which highlighted the clean and crisp makeup just right.

From early location scouting to post-processing color grading, efforts were directed toward an elegant yet visually focused style. The feather elements on the costume drape when standing still, while fanning or making dynamic poses creates a lightweight sense of extension. I preferred using body positioning and limb extension to convey the character's aura rather than relying purely on exaggerated expressions. For instance, when slender leg lines unfolded in a seated posture, paired with relaxed arm movements in the upper body, the overall frame composition became much more stable.

Shooting character photoshoots is always full of unexpected little joys. The feather sleeve accessories tangled together easily, so they had to be smoothed out every few shots; holding the fan too tightly or too loosely wouldn't yield good photos, requiring repeated search for the right grip force. But when seeing in the viewfinder at last that light passed through bamboo branches right onto my shoulder, blending with the fabric, that momentary texture was truly worthwhile.

This ancient style blue-and-black qipao look bestowed a more diverse Chinese expression upon the classic Azur Lane character. Without intentionally chasing exaggeration, simply capturing the character's calm composure and valiant aura frozen within the courtyard made the entire process deeply immersive.
