The location for this photoset was chosen at an ancient-style courtyard with a long history. It was late autumn, and the withered leaves scattered on the ground, the moss on the stone steps, coupled with the damp air after the rain, cast a cool and tranquil undertone over the entire scene. To fit this environmental atmosphere, I specifically selected this wide-skirted dress with a white base and blue floral patterns, supplemented by an abundance of lace and ruffle decorations, which both maintained a sense of lightness and avoided looking too out of place in the quaint courtyard.

The core prop for this shoot was a long-handled staff adorned with blue and white ribbons and star decorations. To showcase its interaction with the wind, in the third image, I spun around extensively to make the skirt puff out while letting the ribbons on the prop flutter naturally with the motion. Shooting this type of dynamic imagery is actually quite a test for controlling the prop and skirt hem; one must find the most extended and natural pivot of exertion during the spin so that the captured skirt hem has a rich, wave-like layering.

Regarding the makeup and hair, to echo the cool-toned cyan and green dominant colors of this outfit, I specially paired it with a clear, fair base makeup and bright blue contact lenses, making my gaze appear more translucent in front of the lens. The long straight wig this time was exceptionally fine and soft, easily creating a flowing hair texture during wide movements, though extra care had to be taken during the shoot to prevent the wig from tangling with the lace accessories. The cooperation with the photographer this time was seamless. Since the shooting environment was on the darker side, we utilized soft diffuse reflection light, which both preserved the rich details of the moss and wood grain and lent a more delicate look to the embroidery textures on the garment.

As for the pose design, besides the static close-ups of standing and holding the prop, I leaned more towards capturing moments in motion, such as spinning or waving the sleeves. The wide, detached cuffs greatly enhance the visual tension when actions unfold. This photoset is not merely a completion of a character portrayal from Touhou Project for this shrine maiden cosplay, but also an interesting attempt to combine modern apparel styling with a natural, ancient-style courtyard. Through the process of sorting out this piece of Anime-style photography, I have also gained a deeper understanding of color restoration under outdoor natural light.
