Merging Hatsune Miku's "Rabbit Hole" theme with Chinese-style horror elements, I produced this formal Hatsune Miku Rabbit Hole little zombie cosplay photoshoot. The overall concept leans toward an eerie yet adorable vibe, so in choreographing the poses, I deliberately referenced classic postures from traditional jiangshi (hopping vampire/zombie) cinema—such as stiff outstretched arms and claw-curved fingers. Accented by the wide, cascading sleeves of this modernized deep-purple Qipao cosplay, the poses took on a unique dramatic tension. For the wardrobe, I chose deep purple as the dominant hue, accented with gold piping and traditional frog buttons; the fabric caught the studio lights with rich luster, perfectly complementing this cool, glamorous ambiance. To embody the zombie aesthetic, a yellow talisman paper (fu) was affixed to the cap, which, alongside the blue-and-pink twin-tail wig, red eye makeup, and under-eye markings, established crisp visual dimension. To further accentuate the character's persona, I added cross-shaped stickers to my face, giving the makeup look sharp recognition.
In posing, beyond standard upright stances, I explored numerous postures filled with contrasting tension. As shown in the shots, crossing or lifting my legs high over chairs and tables not only showcased the high side slit of the Qipao, but also highlighted the sleek silhouette of the sheer Black stockings and glossy high heels. The wide sleeves unfurled dynamically with every gesture, forming a sharp visual contrast against the dark carved furniture of the Chinese set. When portraying dark-themed characters, eye gaze and physical poise are vital: one must maintain an unyielding yet explosive tension, striking a harmonious balance between the uncanny and sultry allure alongside the high slit and Black stockings.
This shoot was captured using a Fujifilm X-S10 paired with a 27mm f/1.2 lens. The ultra-wide f/1.2 aperture preserved intricate details and ambient depth within the dimly lit indoor environment. Photographer Niu Niu was remarkably adept with lighting and angles, incorporating carved wooden armchairs, calligraphy scrolls, and lattice screens to build an authentic, supernatural retro atmosphere. The traditional tiered food box and crimson props on the table were intentionally arranged; to prevent the color palette from feeling overly somber, I also placed some soft pink floral bouquets, providing a gentle visual buffer.
The inspiration for this series was simple: literalizing the idea that "even a gentle rabbit bites when backed into a corner." Within a classical courtyard setting, combining traditional garments with anime styling allowed me to interpret an unconventional version of Hatsune Miku Rabbit Hole. In my performance, I avoided static expressions, instead adjusting the curl of my fingers and subtle tilts of my head to convey a presence that was both menacing and endearing. Because the sleeves were extraordinarily wide, they could easily obscure my face or add visual bulk; continuous calibration of arm angles was necessary to achieve flowing elegance without overwhelming my silhouette. Everyone interprets this concept in their own way, and I sought to highlight a mysterious, slightly dangerous edge. Bringing a 2D icon into three dimensions through the lens and imbuing her with living emotion and movement is a profoundly rewarding journey. I hope these visuals offer a refreshing visual experience and capture this challenging creative endeavor.
