Getting straight to the point, this rock-style Neon Genesis Evangelion cosplay photoshoot has finally been sorted out. For this shoot, we specifically chose an industrial-style studio equipped with a massive drum kit and numerous amplifiers. The curved spotlight array above delivered hardcore stage lighting, though it required repeated light metering to balance the exposure on the face. For the outfit, I chose a classic glossy black leather jacket uniform paired with a red-and-black plaid tie, with a pleated skirt, long Stockings, and platform boots on the lower half. The custom orange-and-black crisscross strap leg warmers echoed the red bass's color scheme nicely. The most eye-catching prop was a red Electric bass; the instrument's lacquer finish and metal hardware looked fantastic under the studio lights.
During actual shooting, the leather jacket was quite stuffy, and posing in professional playing stances meant keeping my arms suspended and pressing down on the strings. Combined with the weight of the Electric bass itself, it was quite a workout for the shoulders and neck. Moreover, the Stockings and leg warmers tended to slip during prolonged standing, requiring frequent readjustments. To fit the Rock band theme, I experimented with different eye angles and, enhanced by the presence of headphones, maintained a cool yet relaxed demeanor. The professional drum kit and speakers on both sides on set greatly elevated the atmosphere. In post-processing, we preserved the raw textures of the floor and drumheads as much as possible to keep the authentic vibe.
This was a very focused Anime-style photography experience. Combining diverse props and scenes with a derivative take on classic EVA designs filled this set with tension and let me genuinely enjoy immersing myself in this stage ambiance. I hope to fully convey this unique visual experience to everyone.
