[Jeanne d'Arc cosplay] Photoshoot Record of the Darkened Form in Fate/Grand Order

To capture that cold, slightly unhinged, and oppressive presence of Jeanne Alter, it took a long time from initial scene conceptualization to finalizing the makeup. The materials for this costume were much more substantial than expected: the silver metallic skirt armor paired with layered corsetry carried significant weight, and standing in high heels for hours while maintaining spear-wielding poses was an immense physical drain. The Black stockings on my legs were also prone to snagging against the sharp edges of the armor plates, requiring extreme caution during movement. Between the long braided hair, the heavy headpiece, and the massive battle flag—which easily caught the wind—along with the lance, holding them naturally while projecting lethal intent demanded constant adjustments to muscle engagement and center of gravity. We specifically built a Dark style set featuring skulls, iron chains, and snuffed candles, which—paired with swirling smoke—matched the purple bodysuit and cold metallic armor seamlessly. The photographer put immense thought into lighting, using strong rim side-lighting to carve out crisp highlights on the armor for dramatic contrast. Shooting in the dark to nail the direction of my gaze meant holding still against piercing lights for seconds at a time; though my neck and back ached, seeing the lonely, resolute atmosphere in the raw frames made it all worthwhile. The makeup was tailored to reflect her misanthropic yet haughty demeanor, where crimson lips under cool-toned lighting looked exceptionally rich against the dark backdrop. Coordinating with the heavy props required constant repositioning and stance adjustments, alongside post-processing to manage vignetting caused by low ambient light, making this an unforgettable experience. I genuinely love this set of photos and look forward to tackling more characters with intricate styling and deep narrative resonance in the future.
