This time, I shot a set of Waguri Kaoruko cosplay at Diwang Plaza, leaning into a sweet school aesthetic overall. For the costume, I chose this pink Off-shoulder dress with white semi-translucent pleated tulle paneled across the neckline and cuffs, accented by a small bow on the chest that perfectly complemented the garment's charm. For the lower half, I paired it with black platform loafers and white lettuce-edge ruffle ankle socks, injecting a touch of playful academic style into the soft, sweet dress, which resonated seamlessly with the theme of The Fragrant Flower Blooms With Dignity.
To match the character's atmosphere in makeup, I used reddish-pink eyeshadow and blush concentrated and blended around the eye area, which—paired with blue contact lenses—made the eyes appear much more vivid and lively. The hairstyle featured a deep purplish-black updo, keeping bangs and soft, slightly curled tendrils along the sides so the head styling wouldn't look overly tight or rigid. Many friends remarked that this look resembled a "purple little cake," which truly captures that healing, sweet sensation.
Selecting the shooting location was also key to these results. The indoor sets at Diwang Plaza provided a classic classroom backdrop, where the dark green blackboard paired with wood-grain wainscoting instantly pulled the scene into a campus ambiance. We utilized real classroom props like the large yellow triangle ruler and blackboard eraser in front of the board, alongside the white rose and chalk in my hands, adding rich narrative depth to the frames. Especially in the shot holding chalk, smiling at the camera before the blackboard truly felt like interactive classroom banter.
Beyond the indoor sets, the outdoor graffiti area at Diwang Plaza was also very distinctive. Vibrant graffiti artwork painted on white brick walls, paired with pink wooden benches, broke the quiet stillness of the indoor shots and added an airy, carefree vibe to the outdoor photography. Sitting on the pink bench as sunlight streamed down, the white tulle and pink fabric of the skirt appeared exceptionally soft under natural light.
Huge thanks to photographer NightDiva this time, who is exceptionally skilled at capturing emotion and details. During indoor shooting, she thoughtfully guided me to use the white rose on hand as a prop, working with natural light to render the textures of the pink skirt and white sheer sleeves with luminous translucency. Especially in close-up shots, the focus and catchlights were dialed in perfectly, preserving the authentic definition of facial features. During the outdoor shoot, she constantly adjusted angles to make full use of the pink surroundings, coaching me on relaxed, effortless seated poses to give the photo series an unforced, natural charm.
Shooting this photo series was deeply fulfilling. From hair and makeup to location scouting, and switching emotional states across different scenes, every step was taken to get as close to the character's essence as possible. Although standing and walking around in platform shoes for most of the day was physically demanding, seeing the previews on camera made all the preparation feel completely worthwhile. The post-processed final images avoided overly complex color grading, focusing instead on faithfully restoring the costume's authentic colors and the venue's natural ambiance. I hope to share these serene yet youthful frames authentically, as this slice-of-life naturalism is what touches hearts most.
