[Hanayo Koizumi cosplay] Love Live! μ's' Chinese-Style Training, The Clash of Big Bowls of Rice and Folding Fans

The title "The Training Path of a Chinese Girl" is actually a very casual meme, because I've always felt that this kind of Chinese-style clothing, which combines a modified qipao with a modern tutu skirt, paired with a short wig and tassel-adorned headwear, inherently brings a playful yet mysterious Chinese fantasy vibe. Since the setting is about training, according to our μ's big eater responsibility, eating five big bowls of rice before going out for the shoot to gather energy is indeed a very reasonable logical loop closure.

The costume for this cosplay photography session was very thoughtfully designed in its details. The top features a classic white stand collar with black frog buttons, made into a sleeveless vest style that exudes a refreshing summer feel. The waist is pieced with a girdle that features a large grass-green base printed with white flowers, while the sleeves are a detached design not connected to the top, which looks agile and showcases the arm lines beautifully. The lower body consists of multi-layered white ruffled short skirts with subtle lace details visible at the edges, paired with yellow-and-green color-blocked long socks and black lace-up long boots with gold element stitching. Overall, it retains the framework of traditional Chinese elements while boldly integrating the lively cuts of anime styling. The hair accessory is a small highlight; the combination of flowers, golden metal plates, and green tassels beautifully fits the Chinese aesthetic onto the short hair look, and along with the purplish-blue colored contacts, it makes the character look refreshing yet with an elf-like cuteness.

The weather on the day of the shoot was excellent, and natural light was the core boost for this set of photos. The photographer Enwei-chan is very skilled at using backlighting and rim lighting to create atmosphere, especially the effect shown in picture three, where sunlight filters through the corridor pillars and falls on the hair strands and edges, forming a very beautiful soft light outline. The scene we chose is a traditional Chinese garden, featuring wooden columns, white walls, grey tiles, as well as classic hexagonal lattice windows and a bluestone arch bridge in the distance. These antique elements happen to align perfectly with the Chinese-style clothing theme of the outfit, and the green of the bamboo also echoes the dominant color tone of the frame just right.

In terms of props, the bright yellow folding fan I held in my hand was a very critical touch for the entire look. The fan ribs are dark, and the large area of yellow played an excellent role in brightening the frame among the green and white costume. During the shooting process, I experimented with different action tempos. Some photos capture me quietly closing my eyes, holding the folding fan in front of my chest to create a serene practitioner vibe; others show me unfolding the fan and striking active poses. Personally, I really like picture four—the dynamic freeze-frame of raising one foot not only showcases the form of the long boots and short skirt beautifully but also breaks the dullness of static poses, conveying a vivid feeling of being highly skilled yet quirky and mischievous.

Although a lot of effort went into the styling and props, truly blending into the character's spirit actually required a great deal of clearing my mind and natural relaxation. The concept of training isn't supposed to be stiff or pretentious anyway, so I didn't intentionally force any serious martial arts stances, but tried my best to complement the changes of light and shadow in the garden along with the texture of the stone flags, letting myself present a relaxed and enjoyable state. As the cosplayer of Hanayo Koizumi, when I put on this outfit, picked up the folding fan, and stepped into this paradise-like scene, I felt as if I had truly laid down the pressures of daily life and completely immersed myself in this traditional Chinese style training world. Every time the shutter clicked, it captured the exact instant where light, shadow, and facial expressions collided, which is perhaps a special kind of healing that cosplay brings to people. From costume fittings and adjustments, prop handling, to the final light and shadow composition of the completed photos, we repeatedly deliberated many details throughout the whole process, striving for every frame to convey the corresponding character atmosphere to those who view this work. I hope this collection, which blends anime character attributes with the beauty of traditional Chinese classical gardens, allows people to experience that unique tranquility and vitality on the path of training.
