[Kaguya-hime cosplay] Cosmic Princess Kaguya!, a record even without a final photoshoot

This outfit for Cosmic Princess Kaguya! took nearly two months of preparation from final design to shoot readiness. The two circular hair ornaments on the wig are made of specially customized acrylic material; they are much lighter than expected, but fixing them in place took a bit of effort. The red oil-paper umbrella is the core prop for this coordination; when opened, it nicely balances the gradient skirt hem of deep blue and teal on the lower body. However, because the schedule that day was too rushed, I only had time to hastily snap a few frames in front of the apartment's full-length mirror. The originally planned night-view outdoor shoot and lighting solutions had absolutely no chance to be practiced, which is indeed quite a pity.

Let's talk about the costume details. The off-the-shoulder design of the top paired with the red bowknots at the cuffs echoes the white zigzag patterns on the skirt hem perfectly. The pink dango prop being held was actually hand-sewn and stuffed with pearl cotton; during photography, it can both block the face and add layers to the frame. The white platform shoes paired with over-the-knee socks featuring white dots on a blue base visually elongate the leg proportions, but when actually wearing them, the center of gravity is slightly high, so special attention had to be paid to balance every time I posed.

Although mirror selfies are limited by angles and reflections, they at least recorded the completeness of the look for this attempt. The canopy texture of the umbrella ribs, the silver-white gloss of the wig under the lights, and the draped pleats of the skirt hem—these details all hold up under close inspection. Actually, the significance of cosplay does not lie solely in shooting how perfect a final photo set is; leaving behind authentic daily behind-the-scenes moments like this allows one to feel the intimacy of the character blending into life instead. Next time, if there's an opportunity, I will definitely do a makeup shoot for a complete light-and-shadow work to fully release the fantasy feel of this outfit.
