For this BW2025 cosplay rooftop Poolside photoshoot during our Convention outdoor photoshoot, I chose to present it using a Flash portrait setup combined with the sunset ambiance. This outdoor shoot took place at a wide-open rooftop pool with city building silhouettes in the background and clear, emerald-green water before me; paired with the warm lighting of sunset, the entire frame carried an intensely rich atmosphere. With the fill light from the flash, it not only captured the backlit glow around sunset but also ensured a clear, 3D translucency across facial features, creating a much more natural transition between highlights and shadows.

Regarding styling coordination, I based the modifications on casual outdoor elements from Nikke and Azur Lane in Anime-style fashion. The black sheer off-the-shoulder mesh cover-up on top is lightweight and breathable; the subtly sheer skin texture and drop-shoulder cut suit the outdoor poolside vibe perfectly. A pure black camisole was chosen as the inner layer, creating depth with the sheer overlay, while tying the hem into a knot subtly revealed waist and midriff contours during movement or poses, infusing the entire outfit with a sense of breathing room. The distressed washed denim shorts on the bottom brought in street-casual flair, with raw frayed edges and faded blue-and-white tones forming an excellent warm-cool complement with the black top.

For hair, I chose a purple-and-red intertwined gradient double bun wig paired with a black bow headband. Since we shot in the afternoon with continuously shifting light, the double bun hairstyle firmly held its shape without getting messy in the breeze, keeping facial contours sharp and distinct throughout. The subtle details on the headband also echoed the primary color blocks of the attire. Makeup emphasized blended eyeshadow and matching lip color, paired with bright orange-red contact lenses to give the face extra sparkle under the sunset's refraction. The large ruby statement necklace was the crowning touch of the ensemble—the chunky gold chain paired with a giant ruby was strikingly eye-catching, producing vibrant reflections when frontal light hit the gem's facets, instantly elevating the poolside scene beyond monochrome simplicity.

During the shoot, I explored numerous dynamic poses. Crossing my arms while standing was the quickest way to get into character, looking natural while showcasing the elongated lines of shoulders and arms. Sitting by the pool edge with legs naturally extended, combining bare feet with reflections on the water's surface, cultivated a wonderfully languid and leisurely vibe for this Poolside photoshoot. Additionally, reaching both arms toward the lens for a forced-perspective depth effect, as well as holding up the necklace for close-up showcases, made the viewpoints of this series lively and multi-dimensional. Glancing back, leaning forward, and resting against the wall fully utilized the site's architectural lines, working alongside the sun's halo to craft a rich atmosphere.

The combination of the Flash portrait and sunset was the core highlight of this series. Front fill lighting interlaced with background backlighting not only smoothed skin texture to look refined and silky, but also ensured the emerald-green water wasn't completely overwhelmed by the golden sunset light. Overall, this Convention outdoor photoshoot leaned toward a relaxed, casual experience; rather than rigidly replicating a specific scene, it was more about enjoying the sunlight, the pool reflections, and the unique chemical reaction sparked when flash meets natural light in an outdoor Flash portrait. Every outdoor shoot requires observant awareness of the environment—from early styling to angle adjustments—and these results give me even more confidence for upcoming projects in BW2025 cosplay.
