Doing March 7th's makeup this time really gave me a pleasant little surprise. In the past, whenever I cosplayed characters with the combination of light-colored hair and blue eyes, I always worried that the eye makeup would look out of place or that the wig color wouldn't match my skin tone. But this time, I tried a slightly new method starting from the base makeup. Instead of excessively chasing a cakey mask-like look, I retained some of the skin's natural texture. Combined with the blending range of the eyeshadow and the diameter of the blue colored contacts, it unexpectedly achieved the anime-style yet casually lively look I wanted.
As for the wig, I put a lot of effort into trimming and styling it to recreate the character's hairstyle. The short pink hair with slightly flipped-out ends would look very bulky if just simply put on. Therefore, I specifically thinned out the internal layers this time to make the top more fluffy and natural, and styled the bangs with a side part. This frames the face nicely without blocking the light to the eyes. Paired with that black leather choker and the black-and-white fingerless gloves, the visual center of gravity of the entire look was well-balanced.
I also must mention the texture of the costume. The blue and pink patchwork fabric has a subtle pearlescent shimmer under the lights, which looks incredibly refreshing when paired with the white top. The petal-shaped decorations, gold buttons, and small tassels on the clothes are all very delicate. Regarding the prop, I slightly adjusted that blue camera myself. Although it's just a photo prop, the weight and grip feel just right in my hand. Today, I specially came over to Diwang Plaza for the shoot. The atmosphere of the convention here is really great. Although the on-site lighting has a slightly reddish undertone and dark tones, it actually added a retro charm to the original colors of the clothes.
As for the composition of the shoot, I ultimately picked the second photo as the main image. I feel that the angle of holding the camera above my head perfectly captures the pink hair, blue eyes, and the outfit's color scheme all in one frame, and my expression control is relatively soft. The dark background curtain on-site, coupled with the red flower accents on the right side, prevents the frame from looking too monotonous. Actually, every time I cosplay, besides recreating the character itself, I hope to incorporate my own understanding and current mood, so that the photos aren't just a copy paste, but can also carry a bit of a storytelling feel belonging to this scene. The final shot taken by the table showcases the extension of the scene. The booth layouts and decorations here at the Diwang Plaza Anime Convention are very atmospheric; interacting with the environment makes the photos look much more natural. Overall, my shooting condition today was excellent, and the cleanliness of the makeup is my most satisfied one recently. I'm very happy to record the things I love with this level of dedication.
