[Cifera Cosplay] Honkai: Star Rail: Feline Convention Photography at the Anime Expo

The finished photoset for Cifera Cosplay from last month's Chengdu convention 'Farewell, Amphoreus' Honkai: Star Rail ONLY expo is finally sorted out. This shoot was captured using a Sony A7C2 paired with a 28-200mm lens; in an expo setting filled with crowds and chaotic lighting, the compression of the telephoto focal length greatly peels away messy backgrounds, rendering the subject's outline much crisper. The area where the wardrobe and styling took the most effort was the leg presentation: white shorts, a black top, paired with knee-high boots and metallic clasps along the legs beautifully elongated the leg contours. To highlight these details, we deliberately designed several sets of poses during the shoot—such as standing on one leg, which demands stabilizing the core while maintaining fluid lines, proving to be quite a test of endurance.

In terms of posing, beyond the classic single-leg stance, movements coordinating with the Kemonomimi girl animal ears were also very effective—raising both hands above the head and leaning slightly forward visually creates a much more spirited, agile feel. Black garments accented with gold embellishments reflect light very easily under convention illumination, requiring continuous repositioning relative to the light angle to find an exposure where neither the face nor the metallic chest pieces blow out. For eye makeup, blue contacts were paired with a pinkish-red gradient blend; the moment biting down on a gold coin brought the gaze into sharp focus, making the overall persona instantly lively and mischievous, bringing 2D charm to life.

To ensure details of the leg rings and boots were not cropped out, the photographer opted for low-angle wide shots or telephoto full-body compositions for this Convention photography set. The resulting photos not only recreate the wardrobe, but also strive to channel that quirky, spirited essence. Even though running around the convention all day in stiletto-heeled gold boots was genuinely exhausting, seeing the metallic luster of the outfit and the fluffy tail under the lights made everything feel worthwhile. Sharing these subtle behind-the-scenes details, I hope to offer some inspiration to friends planning to cosplay this character. Every time I revisit these photographs, I'm reminded of that day's joyous atmosphere, and that alone is more than enough.
