Today I took out this White Day outfit for a Cosplay fitting, and the overall effect turned out vastly better than anticipated. This Luo Tianyi costume is primarily anchored in pristine white, dotted with refreshing light blue accents that are visually soothing. The upper half adopts an off-the-shoulder cut accented by billowy ruffled flounce sleeves, while the chest bow and blue-and-white floral corsage are exquisitely detailed; the diamond-shaped waist motif also cinches the midriff to perfection.
The skirt design is undoubtedly the crowning jewel of this dress—the high-low asymmetrical hemline places immense demands on silhouette tailoring. The front hem stops right around the mid-thigh, framing leg proportions wonderfully, which, paired with the white lace thigh garter and long formal evening gloves, grants the entire look a high level of aesthetic completion. The sweeping train at the back consists of cascading tiers of white tulle spliced with blue textiles; as I walk or crouch down, it billows out organically with rich dimensional layers.
To complement the dress, I put on long wavy silver-grey hair and a white floral headband. The wig is quite dense, requiring a bit of extra time to tame, yet its fluid drape upon wearing harmonized impeccably with the garment's elegance. While putting everything on, I noticed the gloves were somewhat snug, easily forming wrinkles whenever my arms bent, requiring regular smoothing. The trailing hemline is quite long, so walking indoors called for extra mindfulness to avoid stepping on the edges.
Waiting for the costume maker to deliver this set was truly an agonizing wait—a considerable span elapsed from seeing the design previews to finally having it in hand. But trying it on today confirmed the wait was entirely worthwhile. To capture satisfying fitting shots, I adjusted several angles before the mirror. While standing, resting my weight slightly on one leg allowed the curve of the skirt and leg contours to look much more relaxed. Crouching tested the spread of the skirt even further, requiring the rear train to be carefully arranged to showcase that tiered, lavish grandeur.
A fitting session is essentially a process of getting acquainted with the attire—feeling how the fabric drapes across the body and discovering the poses that flatter it best. The room is carpeted with a plush white rug, which happened to echo the garment's palette cleanly. The posters along the wall and the computer on the desk served as handy spatial references, helping me calibrate the proportions of the overall styling through the mirror.
Although this was merely a preliminary try-on, I coordinated all the necessary accessories. Often, even a minor imperfection—such as the exact placement of the garter ring or the cuff edges of the gloves—can shift the overall visual impression. To capture even better shots down the line, I might refine the wig styling further or experiment with different lighting setups. The fabric possesses a subtle sheen under room lights, so choosing camera angles carefully during formal shoots will be crucial to keep specular glare from washing out fabric textures.
After smoothing out the dress, I now have a much clearer command over this styling. The next step is finding the ideal timing, scout an outdoor location or rental studio, and properly shoot this full 2D set. Hopefully the weather plays along so both the natural light and the textile textures can shine at their very best.
