The silhouette of this outfit is actually much more form-fitting than expected; to bring out Shimoe Koharu's languid yet subtly tsundere essence, substantial effort went into the wardrobe and makeup preparation. The black halter modernized Qipao edged with pink piping creates a striking visual contrast. The cutout design across the chest particularly challenges studio lighting; to emphasize the garment's dimensional layering, we deliberately fine-tuned the key light's angle during the studio shoot to avoid harsh, washed-out glare on the black fabric.
Styling the wig was the centerpiece of this entire photo set. To authentically recreate the character's signature look, this pastel-pink twintail wig needed both airy volume and carefully arranged stray wisps along the edges. The pink ring halo and the black-and-blue feathered headpiece on top demanded firm mounting stability—any slight shift in position would appear jarringly out of place before the camera. Before shooting, I used numerous bobby pins and setting spray to ensure all hair accessories remained perfectly positioned through various poses.
For eye makeup, I highlighted pink-violet colored contacts and under-eye blush. While 2D anime makeup can easily look overly heavy on 3D features, I kept the base light and translucent, channeling focus into soft eyeshadow blending. To match the setting's demeanor, I continually practiced tucking my chin slightly, looking upward into the lens with slightly parted lips—effectively capturing an innocent yet subtly seductive aura.
Black lace anklets adorned the ankles, and after slipping on the white over-the-knee stockings, sitting down required smoothing the top band into a completely straight edge so leg contours appeared seamless on camera. Sitting on a white bar stool with crossed legs was a pose we selected after testing multiple drafts; it not only accentuated the curve of the legs in White stockings, but also allowed the black skirt hem to drape naturally, revealing fine edge details. Hand placement was equally critical: resting them gently along the thighs or lightly brushing the seat surface prevented body language from appearing rigid.
The seamless white studio backdrop established pink, black, and white as the undeniable focal points of the composition. To keep the scene from looking monotonous, I utilized the white plush shawl draped over my arms and the fluffy tail behind me as accents, introducing soft textures to soften the overall silhouette.
Throughout the shoot, we navigated a delicate balance between natural ease and camera tension—keeping the posture upright while ensuring the neck, shoulders, and wrists looked relaxed. Due to tailoring constraints, many gestures required micro-adjustments in breathing, arm spacing, and orientation to showcase the garment's authentic beauty from every angle while preserving overall photographic fidelity.
I truly love the style of this set: it preserves character recognizability while incorporating flattering camera angles tailored to my proportions. The White stockings inject an airy sense of lightness, while the seriousness of the black Qipao is softened by sweet pink elements, delivering an aesthetic that feels both charming and cool.
