Yuyuan ACG Expo ended successfully, and this set of convention photos features the cow maid version of Kashino, the Sakura Empire transport ship from Azur Lane. A big thank you to photographer Pulao411 for the shoot; the photographer efficiently delivered all convention photos on the very same day. Such communication efficiency and rapid turn-around time are remarkably rare during busy convention events, becoming one of the key reasons for this outstanding shooting experience.
In terms of styling preparation, the white-and-purple color combination is the biggest visual hallmark of this character's costume. The top features an off-the-shoulder design with flare sleeves, appearing overall very crisp and refreshing. Highlighting the head accessories: the white ruffled lace headband paired with dark wig hair creates a striking color contrast, while purple cross ties on both sides serve not only a securing function but also enrich local styling details. The large bell choker around the neck is the core iconic element of this ensemble; though carrying some weight when worn, the ringing sound as the bell swings while walking and posing greatly enhanced the immersive feel at the convention venue.
Regarding wig and makeup handling, character styles with long straight hair and straight bangs require exceptionally smooth hair strands. Before heading out, I spent considerable time smoothing frizz around the wig edges and layering the bangs to ensure no awkward gaps or messy visual artifacts appeared under direct camera flashes. For eye makeup, to align with the character's anime attributes, I selected lighter-colored contact lenses while enhancing upper eyelid color extensions and lower eyelid highlighting, reducing eye distance feel and making the gaze appear clearer and softer.
Regarding props, two props were actually used during live shooting: a large dark brown round tray for serving coffee or desserts, and a greenish-gray circular bag. Neither prop was small in size, so when posing, to keep them from stealing the scene, I balanced their visual weight using asymmetrical compositions during Anime-style photography. The pose in Photo 5—raising one leg while holding the serving tray—was a freeze-frame shot that beautifully showcased the character's lively feel; paired with white stockings and black high-heeled leather shoes, it wonderfully elongated body lines and proportions.
The shooting location background was a concrete underground structure with exposed pipes. This industrial-style scene is actually very suitable for shooting high-contrast anime characters, as a single flash keylight can illuminate the subject while utilizing the dark ground to generate sharp character reflections. The convention venue was crowded, so finding clean angles between gaps in the crowd relied heavily on the photographer's camera control and sharp perception of the environment.
During shooting, the combination of white stockings and black Mary Jane shoes posed high angle demands during dynamic actions—especially single-leg jumps or toe touches, where slight carelessness could cause uneven reflections on the stockings or distort the shoes' appearance. Luckily, the photographer captured natural moments using high-speed burst shooting. A great convention photo set usually requires not just accurate costumes, makeup, and props, but even more so the photographer's precise grasp of the character's inherent temperament. On this note, photographer Pulao411's work truly fused the live convention atmosphere with Kashino's sweet charm, perfectly documenting that day's convention time through this Kashino cosplay.
