[Komeiji Satori cosplay] Subterranean Rose, the Gaze of Satori's Eye

The theme of this shoot is the Subterranean Rose, with the overall styling fully presented according to Komeiji Satori's official design. The pink wig was given a fluffy, textured style, paired with the bow and vine-like braided cords at the top of the head, which fits the character's temperament perfectly without looking overly heavy. For the outerwear, I chose light greyish-blue tulle wide sleeves, whose pink lace edges and ruffles create a beautiful, elegant flow when swaying. The inner layered cake skirt is embellished with small 3D flowers and green vines, restoring that unique vibe of subterranean softness intertwining with the uncanny.

The most core prop is that giant red eyeball floral ornament on my chest, hand-sculpted using EVA and resin. It features an internal reflective coating and is wrapped with pink roses on the outside; its reflective texture was incredibly eye-catching during the actual shoot. On the shooting day, there was only a pure pink background cloth in the studio. Softboxes were used as the main light source, supplemented by side fill lights, allowing the clothing texture and the sheerness of the tulle to be clearly revealed. The photographer is excellent at capturing motion. Among the four sets of movements, I am most satisfied with the last shot—the moment of lifting one leg and turning around to wave my sleeves. The tulle hem of the outerwear expands into a fan shape, perfectly revealing the white stockings and platform bow shoes, stretching the overall lines to look very slender.

For the makeup, the eye contours were intentionally enhanced using dark eyeliner to elongate the outer corners of the eyes, paired with a large area of pink blush. This gives the gaze a more intense, "awakened" pressure, while retaining the plumpness of the cheeks to neutralize the sense of distance. I was constantly adjusting my breathing during the shoot because the wide sleeves occupy a lot of volume, and I had to control the angles of my arms to avoid blocking the eyeball prop on my chest; fortunately, the final photos all reached expectations. Characters with this kind of subcultural Lolita outfit style heavily test the layering of clothing and the fineness of accessories. This time, everything from the wig trimming to every single lace on the skirt hem was pre-styled, making the shooting efficiency very high—basically getting the shot in two or three takes per movement.

Many people might wonder if such a highly saturated solid color background would steal the scene, but in reality, the pure pink base perfectly supported the character, creating a beautiful red-blue contrast between the red of the eyeball prop and the cool tones of the outerwear. No exaggerated color grading was done in post-processing; it mainly involved touching up facial light and shadow as well as clothing wrinkles, preserving the original slightly flawed texture of the tulle material. The theme of the Subterranean Rose itself carries a bit of melancholy and scrutiny, but through the lens, I wanted to present the character's outer luxury and softness, hoping to let those who see it feel the ingenuity within this cosplay photography design. Anyway, the whole process from early conceptualization to the final prints was highly pleasant, and the cooperation between the props and clothing was higher than expected, with no embarrassing on-site breakdowns occurring.
