Shooting Yukong outside the Firefly Comic Con was a truly unique experience. The costume features an abundance of fine details, and from the preliminary prep to the on-site shoot, there is so much worth sharing. The attire centers around a blue, white, and black palette, incorporating traditional Chinese cloud patterns alongside combat suit elements. The white fabric across the chest features blue cloud motifs; to maintain a crisp, structured dimension, I added lining inside to keep it full and prevent sagging on camera. The black high collar at the neckline is accented with gold piping and wrapped in a plush white faux-fur collar trim, instantly elevating the layered depth. The most eye-catching detail is the cutout design at the waist; to secure the edges and prevent wardrobe malfunctions while shooting, I used double-sided tape and invisible straps. The red strap details were repeatedly adjusted to contour snugly against my waistline, ensuring no harsh pinching marks during movement while showcasing a sleek waist silhouette.

The arm styling is asymmetrical. The arm wearing the long black compression glove features gold totem patterns across the back of the hand and forearm; to prevent the motifs from distorting when stretched, the glove sizing was precisely tailored to fit hand joints seamlessly. On the opposite side, the wide blue sleeve cuff contains internal stiffening lining so the fabric wouldn't droop softly against the body when raising my arms. To capture her signature characteristics, I donned a pair of dark blue and white plush beast ears, clipping a golden metal hair ornament to one side of the bangs. The wig was crafted from a bright turquoise-blue fiber with neatly trimmed layers, adding dynamic motion by gently tossing the strands when capturing profile shots or backward glances.

For makeup, the purple-pink contact lenses are the soul of the look, paired with a reddish-orange eyeshadow blend deepened at the outer corners, while the lips feature a gradient glossy orange-red tint. To emphasize that aloof yet fox-like allure, the eyeliner was gently flicked upward, and highlighter was applied with restraint to preserve natural skin texture. The base foundation needed to be clean and translucent so it wouldn't look oily under harsh outdoor daylight.

The massive white plush tail on my back carried considerable weight, requiring careful balance of my center of gravity while walking, alongside coordinated arm positioning to avoid stiff postures. The Firefly Comic Con perimeter was packed with crowds, leaving the background exceptionally cluttered. To keep the frames clean, we heavily utilized a wide aperture to blur out passing pedestrians, trees, and vehicles. When natural light was abundant, the golden piping and fabric textures looked phenomenal, boasting rich color saturation. For posing direction, I avoided overly energetic gestures, opting instead for light touches against the cheek, profile glances back at the camera, or folded hands, keeping my gaze direct to maintain that subtle sense of detachment.

This outdoor convention shoot went remarkably smoothly, and every frame clearly captures how the costume materials react to natural daylight, successfully embodying Yukong's fierce yet gentle character traits.
