[Robin cosplay] IJOY Anime Convention day holding a can of Fanta

At the IJOY Anime Convention venue, I caught this snapshot holding a can of Fanta during a gap in the crowd. Preparing the overall look for this outing took a lot of thought. For this blue-purple gradient wig, not only were pearls and glitter threads added to the tips and top, but the volume and styling were adjusted back and forth several times. The gradient feather ornaments on both sides used ultra-fine skeletons to support fluffy volume, achieving crisp details. For makeup, emerald green contact lenses established the base pupil color, paired with blue eyeliner that dramatically extended the outer eyes, a broad wash of pink blush under the eyes, and a special droopy lower eyelid technique, enlarging the eye contours in a 2D anime style.

For base makeup, considering the dense crowd and noticeable indoor-outdoor temperature difference at the convention, I used matte liquid foundation paired with high-hold powder for full-face baking, ensuring the makeup wouldn't darken or become splotchy from oil during the roughly five hours of shooting. For outerwear, I chose a pure white off-the-shoulder top to highlight neck and collarbone lines, complimented by a deep blue choker and a delicate pearl necklace, making upper-body visual elements rich and layered. Although this outfit design leans cool and elegant, my personal facial expressions are relatively friendly, so I specially included an OOC apology note in the post, hoping everyone can view this shoot through the lens of a casual convention record.

When shooting this photo, I intentionally chose an indoor hallway area with good natural light that was quiet enough. Looking at the orange Fanta can in my hand, its bright orange body created a striking warm-cool color collision against the cool blue-purple of the wig, making it visually eye-catching. To make the photo look more dynamic, I deliberately tilted the soda can to show a casual, natural state of being about to taste the drink. Meanwhile, the feather headpiece on both sides shown from a three-quarter angle gave the flat photo added spatial depth.

At conventions, I often meet newcomers trying cosplay for the first time asking about makeup and hair techniques. For instance, using hairnets and wire inside the wig creates a head-conforming support structure that avoids pinching while distributing outer hair strands evenly. For eyeshadow and eyeliner blending, using a brush for large washes before using a flat brush to deepen eye corners prevents creasing along double eyelid folds. The glitter used this time was layered on the lid centers and inner corners for a great highlighting effect.

Many friends might feel that besides makeup and outfit, the biggest challenge in cosplaying is mastering the character's demeanor. Although my current presentation may differ slightly from the character's original setting, I prefer playing a character with a touch of my own personality in offline convention atmospheres rather than stiffly copying them. To me, the joy of cosplaying lies in resonating with the character while retaining personal expression. Just like this can of Fanta—it may be an ordinary soda, but in the unique context of an anime convention, it becomes a subtle prop to showcase personal style and mood.

The sultry weather and sweat from walking around actually made this interaction with the character feel more realistic. There are more indoor shooting plans coming up, but taking advantage of this break, using a relaxed and natural snapshot as today's post image perfectly represents my true state at the convention today. Meticulous hair and makeup aim for better results, but an ultimate sense of ease is also an indispensable part of offline events like cosplay.
