[Robin cosplay] Tonight, the Stars Resonate for Me

I'd love to share the detailed creative process behind the costume styling and post-processing effects for this Robin cosplay. The costume's primary color palette features light blue and purple accented with gold details. Because the dress is form-fitting, I spent considerable time adjusting the fit—including the waistline, the deep purple collar clasp at the chest, and the curvature of the skirt hem—to achieve flattering visual proportions. The wig features a custom gradient, while the feather hair accessories on both sides and the halo atop the head presented a significant rigging challenge; I built an internal wire-ring support within the wig net so the silhouette remained pristine even amidst the bustling crowds at the Anime convention. The wings on my back were hand-textured by me, mounted on a lightweight transparent plastic base frame, though carrying them for extended periods still placed quite a strain on my shoulders.

For props, the trumpet-shaped top of the staff and its adjacent golden wings were coated in metallic paint. To facilitate comfortable one-handed holding, the internal core was replaced with reinforced carbon fiber tubing, creating a striking sheen under the lights.

This shoot primarily took place live at the Fan Content Festival Anime convention, where the background environment was quite crowded. We deliberately avoided the heaviest crowds and sought out relatively open areas. Photographer Che offered valuable compositional advice, such as using depth of field to blur the crowds and isolate the foreground subject. However, due to complex ambient lighting, the color temperature of the raw captures was heavily unbalanced. As a result, I crafted custom visual effects, primarily incorporating floating musical notes and staves in post-processing to align with the character's core theme. Using a particle system, I simulated drifting musical notes and unified the warm and cool lighting tones to evoke a dreamlike ambiance.

Although the effects appear intricate, I exercised restraint during compositing so they wouldn't overshadow the focal point of the face. The photoshoot was physically demanding, but seeing the final images made every drop of sweat feel worthwhile. The greatest post-production challenge lay in maintaining consistent color grading across multiple images and cleanly handling the glowing edges of the illuminated staff. After multiple rounds of fine-tuning, we finally achieved an ideal visual harmony.
