This set of my Cheshire concert dress look is finally ready! Before the shoot, I specifically cross-referenced the original concept art in Azur Lane, making numerous adjustments to the wig and costume details, and spending a lot of time studying the layers of the wig. The overall hairstyle features a gray-white and lake-blue gradient. The front bangs were lightly curled, and combined with the black bow headpiece and a tiny golden crown accent, I'm quite satisfied with the level of recreation. To keep the bangs and sideburns stable, I used quite a bit of styling spray. Although it might get a little loose outdoors, under the soft lighting of this indoor set, the texture finally reached my expectations.
Regarding the costume, the main black dress uses a jacquard fabric with subtle patterns, and the neckline features a semi-transparent black tulle patchwork adorned with a delicate golden brooch. The cuffs are classic white puff sleeves with exquisite lace trim. It's especially worth mentioning the golden piping at the waist and the hollowed-out golden decorations below, which enrich the overall sense of layering. The cut of the waist and skirt hem adopts a high-low design, highlighting the feel of a concert dress. Underneath the skirt, it's paired with white thigh-high socks and black strappy high heels, making the visual proportions of the entire outfit more harmonious. The gloves are short white lace gloves, keeping the overall tone uniform.
The scene layout for this shoot was also very meticulously done. The location is a retro practical set put together by a friend. We chose a warm-toned indoor chandelier as the main light source, complemented by off-white sheer curtains in the background for a soft light effect, and the floor was covered with deep brown fallen leaves. This environment creates a beautiful warm-and-cold contrast with the black, white, and gold tones of the costume. Combined with the refraction from the crystal chandelier, it builds that gorgeous atmosphere of the character on a concert stage. Since the chandelier itself is quite complex, we did a lot of testing on light positioning and diffuse reflection during the cosplay photography session to ensure that both the facial features and the textures of the clothing were clearly defined. For props, I specially brought a plush little yellow chicken toy and placed it in the corner, acting as a little 'easter egg' for the work.
During the shoot, I tried two main perspectives: standing and sitting. My favorite is the first full-length standing shot, which perfectly showcases the complete silhouette of the dress and the sense of depth created by the lighting. To match Cheshire's personality, I tried to show a slightly tsundere and playful look in front of the lens, hoping the final photos convey that the character has a lively side beyond her gorgeous appearance. This kind of attempt blending classical style with Anime-style fashion is a very fun experience in cosplay photography. I look forward to shooting more in this style in the future to explore the exclusive atmospheres of different characters.
