When shooting this Castorice look, the on-site environment was incredibly dreamy, with a sea of flowers covering the ground. Combined with the blue and purple light and shadow, I quickly got into character. The blue tone of this outfit is perfectly spot-on, and the combination of tailoring and butterfly elements is just right, looking both cool and elegant. Especially the black hollowed-out appliqué at the neck and the butterfly accessories on the shoulders; they are rich in detail and highly photogenic under close-up shots. Regarding props, the long scythe is actually quite heavy. Holding it with a single hand requires finding the right leverage point to portray a lightweight feel, and the metallic texture of the blade looks exceptionally sharp under post-production light and shadow rendering. The lines of the neck and shoulders when looking back, along with the negative space on the back, are also a major highlight of this character. Showcasing them through side lighting highlights the silhouette beautifully, bringing out a touch of cool aloofness. For makeup and styling, a cooler color palette was intentionally selected. The pink-purple wig was groomed to look very flowing, paired with light-colored contact lenses to make the facial features look more ethereal and translucent. The dreamy backdrop utilized a massive amount of artificial flowers, with blue, white, and purple interwoven in layers. Combined with a crystal chandelier and white Roman columns, it recreated a dreamlike hall vibe. During the shoot, a large softbox was used to simulate top-side lighting, creating a soft, dreamy atmosphere, while the crystal chandelier and lace curtains served as the foreground to increase the depth of the frame. We tried both low-angle and high-angle perspectives. The low-angle shot brings out a sense of intimidation, while the high-angle shot emphasizes a sense of fragility, perfectly echoing the character's underlying theme of tragedy interwoven with aestheticism. Often, the charm of cosplay lies in breaking the dimensional wall, transforming flat concept art into a tangible entity. Putting on specific clothes and picking up iconic weapons, one's state of mind changes accordingly. Although the two days of shooting were exhausting, seeing the images gradually take shape on the monitor made me feel that everything was completely worth it. The match between this scene and the costume is extremely high. Especially when the purple light source hits the white bouquets, the refracted color looks very premium. To restore the character's ethereal temperament, the action design was also kept as light and gentle as possible, avoiding making the body language look too forced. The lens focused mainly on medium-length and full-body shots, striving to express the sense of integration between the sea of flowers and the character. I hope the final photos can deliver that quiet yet fractured world to more people. Huge thanks to the excellent teamwork of my friends on set; together we completed this creation full of romance through our cosplay photography effort. If death is inevitable, I also hope to be frozen in time in such a more artistic way.
