This time, I chose a venue featuring a large glass dome and a steel frame structure to shoot Yoshino from Date A Live. The transparent natural light made the entire frame incredibly soft. In terms of the costume, the ruffles of the green hooded coat and the plush rabbit ears were meticulously detailed. Paired with the light blue and pink gradient long hair, I strived to accurately recreate that pure yet slightly timid feel of the character.
During the shoot, I specially brought along the iconic hand puppet, Yoshinon. It was not only a crucial prop but also helped me quickly find the character's state during interactions. The afternoon sunlight filtered through the glass, casting an interlocking pattern of light and shadow on the corridors and steps. This perfectly echoed Yoshino's slightly melancholic yet warmth-seeking temperament in the original work. The photographer beautifully utilized the reflections of the glass and the depth of the corridor to snap several full-body shots with a great sense of space.
In the close-up shot of me sitting on the bench, the light perfectly outlined my facial contours, beautifully conveying the character's quiet and introverted aura. Although it was my first time experimenting with this setting, the overall results turned out much better than I expected. From styling the wig to arranging the small accessories on the outfit, all the prior preparations were well worth it. I am absolutely thrilled to bring this 2D anime character into the real world of light and shadow through this cosplay photography session.
