[Xiangling cosplay] Traditional Chinese style Qipao Showcase by the Chef of Wanmin Restaurant

This Xiangling photoshoot was completed in a studio steeped in rich, traditional Chinese festive New Year vibes. The black, gold, and red color scheme looked exceptionally rich and textured under the warm yellow lighting. Starting with the tailoring of the modified Traditional Chinese style Qipao, the cutout design on the chest naturally flatters body curves, while the red tassel pendant and small Guoba plush hanging at the waist add a playful touch. To match the character, I purposely chose this slit skirt, which, paired with the red leg cords and adhesive bandage, beautifully accentuates the leg shape in full-body shots. Wearing the blue twin-loop braided wig was a real test of styling skill; since the ponytail had to be firmly anchored behind the head while keeping a lively curve, I paid special attention to side profile and over-the-shoulder angles when communicating with the photographer. Furthermore, handling that exact replica oversized polearm was an intense workout—tensing my arm muscles to project a sense of both dynamic martial prowess and rock-solid stability. Fortunately, the heroic vibe of wielding the polearm came through brilliantly in the final photos, and the shot holding the weapon is my absolute favorite. Loving this retro Chinese ambiance, I sought out a studio decorated with crimson drapes, festive lanterns, a carved wooden bed, and 'Fu' character backdrops. The ambient lighting greatly elevated the entire series, with the photographer softly blurring foreground flowers to create immersive depth of field. I tried various poses to showcase different facets of the costume, such as kneeling on one knee with a plush toy to show off leg lines, or turning sideways to reveal the back and waist contours. The black-and-gold patterned sleeves and boots also added tremendous flair to the overall aura, boosting my confidence to portray her free-spirited dynamism. Although I didn't wear stockings this time, the lighting texture along the legs created an equally stunning visual effect. Preparing this costume and makeup required managing intricate accessories and belt details; to present a neat and crisp outfit, I spent nearly an hour adjusting the red cords, Chinese knots, and jade pendant to ensure nothing shifted out of place during movement. Smoothing out the vibrant blue wig also took considerable effort—because its bright tone tests the lighting setup and can easily produce digital noise if not lit properly. Stepping onto the set and seeing the ornate carved bed, blue-and-white porcelain vases, and draped red silk immediately immersed me into the character. Wielding the heavy polearm required holding my breath to maintain a straight, disciplined posture, whereas hugging the chubby Guoba prop called for relaxed shoulders to evoke an endearing, lively state. We took dozens of photos from diverse angles—ranging from traditional standing poses to casual side-sitting and looking back with a smile—striving to bring out all of the character's charm. The bandage on the leg was also a faithful touch, injecting a grounded warmth into the fresh visuals. To highlight the leg lines, the studio gaffer fine-tuned the key and rim lights so that highlights flowed seamlessly along the curves, making the legs look wonderfully long and sleek. Overall, it was a shoot that perfectly balanced comfort and expressiveness—meticulously crafted yet delightfully relaxed throughout.
