The convention photos from this World Line Comic Convention shoot are finally here! Incorporating the signature traits of Genshin Impact's Lyney, the photographer and I collaborated to create a Cat girl anthropomorphism Battle cat concept. Casting aside the canonical magician garb, I wore a white lace-trimmed corset paired with a tiered cyan-blue miniskirt, matching short silver-grey locks with translucent white cat-ear headpieces to highlight a cool-toned combat aura. To stay faithful to the feline lore, a distinctive stitched-scar marking was applied to the left cheek. The red umbrella shaft and cyan streamers added dynamic kinetic flow to each frame. By the time we began shooting, dusk had settled into full night; framed by a full moon and cyan-blue cool lighting, the setup harmonized with the conceptual aesthetic impeccably. Anime culture is truly real-world magic—looking at the final images, it felt like breaking right through the fourth wall.
A great deal of thought went into this styling, with constant micro-adjustments made to the wig silhouette and costume nuances. The wig was specifically chosen in silver-grey, taking over an hour to set and hairspray to achieve the braided crown texture; the cat ears were anchored securely to the wig using pins and clips so they wouldn't dislodge even while navigating crowded convention floors. The outfit abounds with intricate details: the white lace corset features refined jacquard patterns, while the layered cyan pleated skirt flows and fans out naturally with movement. The black lace choker around the neck and the cyan streamers cascading from the chest acted as focal accents—draping to leg height to bring rich spatial layering to the shots. To channel the Battle cat persona, the character's typical playing cards were swapped for a red-handled walking cane, which, paired with the fluttering ribbons, enabled diverse combat stances alongside languid feline gestures. Beyond the facial scar marking, the eye shadow was deepened to lend a sharper edge to my gaze. The convention was packed on the day, making outdoor night shooting quite an endurance test, but seeing the raw frames captured by the photographer made every bit of effort worthwhile.
We attempted countless takes to catch the optimal fluttering angle of the flowing ribbons. Anime culture truly functions as real-world magic, allowing us to translate in-game characters into reality through our own personal interpretations and crafted efforts. While this Lyney cat concept incorporates many original personal ideas, the overarching aesthetic stays tethered to the enigmatic aura of the charismatic magician. This series stands as one of my most satisfying recent creative endeavors, and the lighting from the photographer was phenomenal. I sincerely hope everyone enjoys this fresh stylistic experiment!
