This modified traditional Chinese style qipao for Ruan Mei was a plan finalized after long discussions. The deep blue gradient fabric paired with light water-green wavy gauze sleeves, combined with the delicate pearls and gold-trimmed collar around the neckline, gives the entire outfit both Chinese classical dignity and the unique lightness of a game character.

Considering the character's temperament is gentle, cold, and slightly mysterious, the stylist discarded overly complex updos for the hair and makeup. Instead, they opted for a highly layered long straight black wig style, with golden branch hairpins added to enhance the ethereal vibe. The loose strands on both sides of the hairstyle beautifully flattered the face shape. Paired with a clean, translucent base and slightly orange eyeshadow, it made the gaze look both focused and gentle.

The lighting conditions in the studio today were excellent. The photographer used softboxes to create very even diffuse reflections, perfectly capturing the textures of the silk fabric and organza. Especially with the high slit design of this outfit, paired with matching deep blue pointed high heels and light-colored stockings, it effectively elongated the leg proportions during the shoot and showcased the body curves. When posing, I specifically utilized a semi-transparent embroidered round fan as a prop. The fan's surface featured pink flower branches, forming a clever color response with the red-orange tassels on the outfit, making the traditional Chinese style flavor of the frame even richer.

Holding this round fan, I kept thinking of the sentence at the beginning of the post: 'Every petal in life, no matter when it blooms, will have a day when it is blown down by the wind.' Ruan Mei's setting in the game carries a sense of quiet observation towards life and time. She doesn't have a particularly passionate or extroverted personality, so I also held back any flamboyance in my expression management, choosing instead to look straight into the lens with a subtle, gentle smile to match her atmospheric vibe of 'being in the mortal world yet transcending beyond it.'

The post-processing artist was also amazing; while preserving the authentic texture of the skin, they fine-tuned the color tone of the entire frame toward a cooler and softer direction, making the transition of blue shades more natural and the gauze look even lighter. There are a few photos in sitting poses where I sat on a pure white cylindrical prop with my legs slightly extending diagonally, which, combined with the flowing skirt hem, beautifully expresses a casual and lazy aesthetic.

This shoot was not just about restoring a character's appearance, but also about trying to narrate her personality through camera language. Whether it is the waist-slimming cut of the modified qipao or the draping feel of the large sleeves, the presentation of every detail is inseparable from the joint efforts of the styling, photography, and post-processing teams. I am delighted to leave such a set of final photos in this studio shoot, materializing the cold, elegant beauty from the game into real-world imagery, serving as a tribute to this character and this anime-style bond.
