The sheer complexity of faithfully recreating the details of this Honor of Kings Chang'e - "Stellar Vessel" cosplay costume was far beyond what I anticipated when deciding to cosplay her. The combination of dark blue and gold looks exceptionally elegant; to recreate the water ripple and fish-fin textures on the skirt hem, special material selection and fabric processing were applied. The hair accessories on the head were secured layer by layer using hairpins and hair strands, especially that teal leaf-like ornament, which required careful attention every time I turned my head to avoid snagging the hair.
The skirt hem was a major challenge. The long train has considerable weight; when taking mirror selfies to showcase my leg lines, I specifically adjusted the straps of the high-heeled sandals, using transparent sheer tulle and light golden accessories as visual transitions. Because the skirt was so wide and voluminous, I brought in that yellow soft rubber doll to coordinate with it—its pose clinging to my thigh helped balance some of the weight while making the composition feel much more interactive.
This costume has numerous accessories: gold ornaments on the arms, tassels on the chest, flowers at the waist, and hanging bead strands, all requiring meticulous arrangement. During mirror selfies, holding up the phone naturally conceals the face, reducing the pressure on makeup and allowing the overall silhouette and texture of this costume and prop display to shine. For such intricate, ethereal garments, I spend extra time adjusting fabric folds and the natural drape of accessories to ensure every detail in the photo holds up to close scrutiny.
As someone who enjoys delving into cosplay props and costume and prop display details during Casual cosplay, I find the highlight of this design to be the light-blue circular cutout patterns on the skirt hem, which, paired with the silver-white wig, create fantastic visual depth. In the first photo, pairing with the plush doll created a lively and natural posture, and I intentionally preserved this dynamic mirror framing. The second photo fully displays the complete costume. Although the self-shooting process was a bit tiring—finding angles on my own and constantly watching out not to step on the skirt hem or the long tail behind—seeing the restored details in the photos made me very satisfied.
Costumes with oriental fantasy aesthetics often demand well-proportioned silhouettes. Through the neckline and waist designs paired with a slit skirt, it visually elongates the figure; matching it with light-colored heeled sandals especially flatters the leg lines. Without complicated backgrounds, the clean wall actually highlights the magnificent grandeur of this outfit.
