This time, I took on Yin Ziping's Chalcedony ice core cosmetic look. The outfit is exceptionally rich in detail: a white-based mini dress adorned with silver embroidery, a mandarin collar with traditional frog fasteners, translucent ruffles across the shoulders, and black-trimmed waist cutouts embellished with cascading beaded chains. To complement the attire, the hairstyle featured long pale-blonde twin tails with straight blunt bangs, framed by oversized black-and-white ribbon bows on both sides. Makeup focused heavily on the eyes, with subtly intensified eyeliner to bring out a sharp, serene, and spirited gaze. For the lower half, I wore White over-the-knee socks barefoot over the white seamless backdrop, keeping the overall palette strictly unified.
For props, I prepared an all-white uchigatana blade and a folding fan. The sword possesses exceptional tactile quality—the hilt has a woven texture, the white scabbard matches the costume seamlessly, and it carries a satisfying weight in hand.
During the studio session, I experimented with multiple poses to best embody the motion style of this Oriental fantasy appearance. The first sequence involved raising the folding fan high with one hand while glancing back over the shoulder, testing shoulder flexibility and the graceful extension of the neck. The second set centered on sword poses—such as a two-handed horizontal parry or a reverse one-handed grip—where the gaze had to convey sharp, martial intensity. The most challenging poses required intricate leg control, like lifting one leg high while balancing on the other, all while keeping the blade firmly poised. This demanded immense core strength and balance; it took several attempts to find a stable stance that didn't look rigid. For example, holding the blade with one hand requires a precise wrist and arm angle to make the weapon look weighty rather than weightless.
Another setup was a single-knee kneel with one hand braced on the floor and the other holding the blade behind the back. Lowering the body in this position beautifully accentuated the skirt folds and the texture of the White over-the-knee socks. To match the silver hair aesthetic, generous amounts of hairspray were applied to fix the bangs, ensuring the hairstyle remained intact during broad movements. The photographer used high-key lighting against the pure white background, keeping the entire image impeccably clean without overpowering the costume details. Without harsh distracting shadows, both skin texture and fine fabric embroidery showed through with extreme clarity.
In a studio setting dominated by vast pure white, white fabrics can easily blend into the background, making contour rim lighting essential to pop the figure forward. Posing with a short hemline meant continually checking skirt placement during squats and high kicks to ensure the captures were both dynamic and modest. Breath control was equally vital; maintaining steady breathing kept facial expressions composed and calm, true to the character's persona. The entire Cosplay photography session went smoothly; though the stances were challenging, the final results were deeply rewarding—a thrilling synthesis of the Chalcedony ice core texture and Yin Ziping's chivalric spirit.
