This time at the Xiamen Golden Dolphin Anime Exhibition, I chose Cirno from the Touhou Project as my character for the day's shoot. I actually spent quite a long time preparing this makeup and outfit. To capture her unique temperament of seeming a bit clever yet naturally dense, I made several adjustments from the eyeshadow tones to the lip color. The wig is a short, light blue style with blunt bangs paired with her iconic ahoge, and the large blue bow on top of my head is one of the highlights of the whole look. For the costume, it's a classic white shirt with a dark red bowtie, layered under a royal blue pinafore dress, and the pleats of the skirt have a very natural drape as I walk. The convention venue was incredibly crowded on the day of the shoot, with a cluttered background and rather complex lighting, but this just tested the photographer's skills even more. This time, I collaborated with a mutual-benefit photographer, and we found a relatively open corner at the end of the exhibition hall corridor for the cosplay photography. Regarding the props, the three bright blue ice crystal wings behind me are special effect particles added in post-processing; during the actual shoot, I wore an invisible mounting rig. To present this tsundere and confident feeling amidst ice and snow, I deliberately designed some small details in my poses. For instance, this posture in picture oneâturning sideways with my chin in my hand, paired with a nonchalant gazeâperfectly brings out Cirno's cute, tsundere "I am the strongest!" vibe. Although it was a collaboration shoot, the photographer's control over light and depth of field was highly professional. In post-processing, falling snow effects were added, which, combined with the cool white lighting of the convention venue, created a wonderful winter icefield atmosphere. Shooting this cool-toned magical vibe in the Xiamen conventionâwhere it was as hot as 30 degrees Celsiusâactually offered a very interesting sense of contrast. The cosplayers on site were all very enthusiastic, and passing fans even helped me tidy up my wig and stray hairs. This atmosphere of on-site collaboration and mutual help is exactly why I especially enjoy cosplaying at conventions. This shoot was not just to recreate the character, but also to breathe some new life into her using my own understanding and state of mind, resulting in these lovely convention photos.
