[Cheshire Cosplay] Azur Lane Cheshire Draft Design: A Dreamy Blue and White Interpretation

This time, I chose to shoot Cheshire's draft design version—a look that takes dreaminess and intricate complexity to the absolute extreme. When I first received the costume, my very first thought was how astonishing the sheer volume of layered tulle was. In particular, the massive ruffled hat looks like a blooming frost flower from afar, yet its texture is so lightweight that it feels as though a gentle breeze could blow it away. Since this unused concept leans toward a cool color palette of blue and white, we unified the overall makeup, hair, and set design to reflect this icy, pure atmosphere.

In terms of preparation, a lot of thought went into the wig's two-tone gradient, transitioning smoothly from silver-white to cyan-blue. It required maintaining fluffiness while carefully fitting the bangs with the hat to avoid flattening the hair roots. For face makeup, rather than overly flashy colors, I opted for clean, translucent base makeup combined with cool-toned blending around the outer corners of the eyes to recreate the character's gentle yet slightly mysterious vibe. The sapphire pendant and choker around my neck color-coordinate with the hand-stitched lace on the bodice and the deep blue corset.

The studio set on the shooting day was truly breathtaking. White Roman pillars, fountain-shaped stone sculptures, drapes of sheer tulle in the distance, and clusters of blue and white flowers scattered around maximized the ethereal vibe of the costume. During Cosplay photography, alongside standing poses, the photographer suggested taking more seated and crouching shots. Because the massive hat could easily block facial light from a standing overhead angle, sitting not only relieved the center-of-gravity weight of this intricate dress, but also better outlined leg lines. Paired with white lace garter stockings and sparkly bow high heels, it presented an elegant yet playfully charming visual aesthetic.

Additionally, the train of this outfit left a lasting impression on me. Unlike typical long trains that are stiff, this one uses lightweight, airy gauze. So while posing, to make each layer of tulle spread out naturally, I had to repeatedly adjust the placement of my arms and legs to add dynamic layering. During shooting, I not only had to look cool and elegant, but my posture also needed to be gracefully stretched out—a single lapse in attention could result in stepping on the skirt or getting snagged by the sleeves. Fortunately, the pose adjustments went very smoothly in the end.

The final photo results turned out stunning. The high-end sophistication of cool lighting paired with such complex attire truly maximized the character's cool and ethereal temperament. Draft designs actually hold their own unique charm; far from being overly common like official designs, they bring a rare design aesthetic with unique elements that might otherwise be set aside. Sitting quietly in front of the interwoven blue-and-white set, I felt the illusion of being transported to a magical kingdom of ice and snow. Every drape of thin tulle and every soft ray of light perfectly complemented the fresh feeling brought by this draft concept.
