This set of Blooms of Time Amiya photos was taken last month and specially saved to be posted on my birthday, serving as a very ceremonial commemoration.
Regarding the costume, although it is mainly a white and blue patchwork color scheme, the actual coordination and layers are much more complex than they look. The outer layer of the skirt features lightweight, translucent white tulle superimposed with slightly crisp satin material. Coupled with the multi-layered petticoat inside, it not only gives the skirt a wonderful fluffiness but also makes the overall body silhouette look very full. The long white lace tulle gloves on the arms and the blue accessories on the neck greatly enrich the visual layers of the photos in terms of details.
For the wig, the deep brown long hair was treated with some slight curls and volume, making the proportions just right when paired with the iconic brown and white rabbit ears on top. To keep the wig from looking monotonous, I adorned the forehead and sideburns with tiny transparent rhinestones, which create a sparkling reflection under the lights, adding a touch of ethereal charm. For the makeup, I maintained a clean and clear base, focusing on the cool-toned smudging of the eye makeup and brightening the lip color, which highlights the three-dimensional facial features without overshadowing the outfit.
The biggest difficulty in this shoot was actually interacting with the props. The silver scepter inlaid with blue sapphires in my hand has a significant weight, and its surface is extremely smooth. When holding it, I had to ensure a relaxed and extended posture while avoiding excessive force that would make the arm lines too stiff. Fortunately, the photographer and I had a tacit understanding; we tried both standing and sitting positions, repeatedly searching for angles to capture that feeling of effortlessly holding the staff. Another set of movements involved holding a blue and white bouquet with both hands, requiring the fingers to be naturally relaxed and placed in front of the chest or close to the face to showcase the gentle softness of a young girl.
The shooting scene was in the studio of No. 81 Photography Studio. The background used a cool-toned combination of blue and white lighting, paired with wrought iron birdcages, crystal chandeliers, white stone pillar steps, and a large layout of blue and white flowers. This made the entire frame very translucent, creating a crisp feeling belonging to a dawn garden. Standing in front of that massive arched geometric window frame, I felt as if I had truly integrated into such a peaceful time and space.
I handled the post-processing myself. The overall tone leans toward cool colors, lowering the saturation of blue and white in the frame to preserve the original reflective texture of various materials as much as possible while making the character's skin tone look translucent and natural without appearing overly pale. My favorite compositions in this set are the one looking down at the bouquet and the one sitting upright and looking up, which beautifully convey the character's quiet and calm temperament. Finally, special thanks to photographer Guangjun Tailang for his patient guidance during the shoot, and to the studio for providing the perfect set. Being able to share this work on this special day is a wonderful milestone for myself.
