[37 Cosplay] Reverse: 1999, Pure Moments Captured in the Sea Breeze and Sand

Taking advantage of the good weather, we chose a place with clear water and white sand to complete this 37 shoot. Wearing this loose-fitting robe mainly in off-white tones, tying the necklace with geometric patterns around my neck, and set against a completely pristine coastal background, my light blue long hair was blown by the sea breeze, bringing an atmosphere even better than we expected.

The outfit itself has a strong sense of geometric design, and the cream-colored fabric is very lightweight, which fits the open natural scene of the seaside perfectly. When preparing the hair and makeup, I already had a rough expectation for the final photos. The light today was excellent, and the strong natural light hit the wig and clothes, bringing out the translucency perfectly. I also need to thank the photographer Guimi very much. To capture satisfying angles, we adjusted our positions continuously under the blazing sun. Because strong light easily causes overexposure, we repeatedly tried several combinations of backlight and sidelight. Although I look relaxed in the photos, many times I had to constantly maintain a posture and steady my breath to match the composition.

These selected photos are the ones I'm relatively satisfied with. In one of them, I am kneeling on the shallow beach, with both feet and knees pressed against the wet sand, and there are even some sand grains stuck to my fingertips. I think this angle was captured beautifully—the waves just happened to wash against the edge of the skirt, the natural light outlined the contours of my shoulders and collarbone, and the dimensionality and spontaneity of the costume were fully preserved. The other two sitting poses also showcase the details of the collar and armlets beautifully. The golden tassel armlets paired with the cream-colored fabric create a great sense of visual layering. There is also the final standing shot where I pull the wide sleeve with one hand, blending with the distant islands and jet skis to extend the open feeling of the entire environment.

In fact, cosplay photography is not just about putting on clothes and striking a pose; the final output depends heavily on the capture of light and shadow during the shoot. For this beach shoot, we intentionally avoided the harshest direct sunlight at noon and chose a mix of sidelight and soft light. This avoids heavy facial shadows and makes the skin tone look more natural and bright. Moreover, since I needed to go barefoot, the pain of walking on hard sand gravel and the icy cold sensation of the waves washing over my ankles became a very special experience looking back. Especially when the tide receded, the bottom of the skirt got slightly soaked, which actually gave the lightweight fabric a nicer drape.

The preview set I posted before received a very enthusiastic response, so this time I'm sharing the complete shooting details and a few more satisfying photos. I think a good travel shoot is about dynamically integrating the static beauty of the character with the natural environment. Sunshine, waves, and beach, paired with this 37 costume, create a unified, clean, and refreshing color palette. Whether looking blankly at the water on the shallow beach or raising a hand to feel the flow of air, I feel these moments have been preserved beautifully. No need for too many complex filters or post-processing; pure natural light and a refreshing seascape are the best foils.
