[Evernight Cosplay] Honkai: Star Rail School Style Photo Log

With the school style setting of Evernight as the theme for this shoot, a single indoor light combined with purple ambient lighting was used throughout to craft the overall frame. I chose a pure purple background, which allows the character subject to be isolated from the environment while forming a natural color transition with the pink of the wig. The wig used this time is a customized Pink wig with highlights. The hair strands have a relatively soft texture, refracting subtle graininess under the lighting to enhance the overall fantasy atmosphere of the work. The hair clips on both sides of the forehead and the black asymmetrical hair accessory on the side serve as the character's signature accouterments, securing the bangs beautifully while making the transition from the grayish-white hair roots look more natural.

In terms of makeup processing, this time a cool-toned pink-red eyeshadow was used for large-area blending around the eyes, paired with deep black eyeliner elongating towards the outer corners to visually increase the depth and laziness of the eye shape. A matte-textured rose palette was used for the lip makeup with a light all-lip tint to adapt to the school style that carries a slightly cold, detached temperament. Since the character's facial features possess a certain degree of androgynous beauty, I also chose a foundation liquid with a cool, fair skin tone for the base makeup, brightening the brow bone and bridge of the nose with highlighters to reinforce the overall three-dimensional light and shadow.

Regarding clothing, the combination of a white shirt and a gray V-neck knit vest is a classic combination of school style. However, instead of a traditional bow tie, I specially paired it with a blue and white plaid bow tie, which creates a color collision of warm and cold, light and dark with the overall pink-purple atmosphere, keeping the frame from looking monotonous. The inclusion of black half-finger leather gloves is a key point of the styling; it not only breaks the weak and fragile impression inherent in traditional school styles, adding a few hints of the character's capability and valiance, but also serves as a heavy color block visually to stabilize the composition.

Before the shoot, I carefully combed through the character's settings and the tone of the entire set of photos. Although the setting is school style, it is not the sweet and pure type, but rather carries a faint sense of detachment and confidence. Therefore, in terms of camera performance, I deliberately controlled the range of my expressions, focusing on a cold, aloof expression with slightly downcast eyes or a direct gaze into the lens. Whether it's resting my chin on one hand or lightly touching my forehead, the movements are intended to showcase a relaxed and casual personality trait. This precise grasp of temperament is often more important than pure costume restoration, and it is also the deciding factor in whether the entire set of photos aligns with the character's soul.

For the post-photography color grading, I focused on unifying the pink-purple tone of the frame, allowing the purple light of the background and the pink hair of the wig to merge naturally. The highly reflective leather texture was preserved on the leather gloves while the knit vest remained matte; this contrast of materials enhanced the narrative layers of the image. While organizing the final finalized images, I also found that these high-angle downward perspective shots are very suitable for showcasing the character's temperament of looking down slightly without being overly aggressive, and this photography experiment can be considered to have achieved the expected results. Being able to use the form of cosplay to restore the school style character as I understand her is indeed a highly fulfilling achievement. Grasping every detail is an effort to get closer to how she looks in the settings; including the direction of the hair strands and the securing of accessories, everything has a direct impact on the final photos. I hope to try more themes of similar styles in the future to portray characters with different auras in Cosplay photography.
