[March 7th cosplay] The Lively Photographer in Honkai: Star Rail - Image 1

The original intention of this shoot was to recreate March 7th's lively and somewhat casual trait as a chronicler. In the setting of Honkai: Star Rail, she is always holding a camera, recording bits and pieces of the journey. To match this state, we specially selected this cyan-blue vintage camera as the core prop, and its bright color served as an excellent finishing touch within the overall cool-toned frame. Before the actual shoot, I specially went to learn the posture of holding a camera, and my expression also needed to carry a bit of playfulness without appearing too artificial, striving to fit her carefree personality.

A lot of effort actually went into handling the costume details. The main color palette consists of pure white and light blue, supplemented by a dash of bright orange to break up the monotony. To add layers, a black choker and metal buttons were specially sewn at the neckline, forming a stark contrast with the large area of the white shirt. The design of the cuffs both retains a wide, puffy feel and incorporates ribbon elements, creating a highly flowing dynamic effect when arms hang naturally or hold up the camera. The blue short skirt of the hemline is paired with black side panels and orange cloth strips; this distinct color-block patchwork brings a light and clean visual weight whether standing or tilting the body slightly.

Speaking of the set design this time, the studio was filled with an abundance of green fine-leaf plants and white flowers. A white iron birdcage stood on the right side, and a white fringed tulle curtain hung on the left. This environment, combined with the bluish cool-toned lighting, successfully created a cool, ethereal yet not too distant dreamy backdrop. When standing in the studio wearing this outfit, the light hitting the white tulle and plant leaves, coupled with the reflection from the cyan camera, made the color tone of the entire photo very unified. We tried a low-angle shot during the session, which made the character look more cheerful and upward-looking, and the action of holding the camera also appeared more energetic.

To capture that light and healing vibe often jokingly called "baby's solid food" by netizens, I downplayed the heavy feel of eyeshadow and blush in the hair and makeup styling, making the skin texture look as clean and translucent as possible, only highlighting the brightness of the eyes to pair with the matching pink wig. This clear makeup look won't be washed out in a cool-light environment; instead, it sets off the character's complexion nicely. Under the photographer's guidance, I learned how to control the center of gravity when holding props, making the whole person look both relaxed and interactive. This natural state is much more vivid than intentional posing.

The shooting process this time was very smooth, and the team's requirements for lighting were highly meticulous, with every background element fitting the character's daily state as closely as possible. Although there were many items arranged in the studio, the frame did not look cluttered; instead, it appeared well-ordered due to the unity of the cool tones. I hope the style presented this time can bring everyone an immersive feeling, as if March 7th is truly holding her camera, standing in some ethereal corner of a planet, recording the vivid moments of her journey.
