This set of photos from the Firefly ACG Expo looks so impactful at first glance. The moment I saw the finished photos, I wanted to share them just as they are. The live environment on shooting day was actually quite complex, with extreme lighting contrast and huge crowds. However, with the aid of speedlights against a pitch-black background, we managed to create that unique stage lighting ambiance. This time I cosplayed my ultimate favorite character whom I had been planning for a long time, so from costume preparation to makeup details, I hoped to capture that sharp edge and confidence unique to the character as much as possible.

Costume-wise, the overall color palette of this outfit is the classic red, white, and blue combination, and the uniform pattern is very structured and sharp. The blue patchwork on the collar and the golden line embroidery on the cuffs keep the overall look from feeling monotonous. The golden tasseled epaulets on the shoulders are the centerpiece of the visual; not only do they have a solid, weighty feel, but the metallic shine and drape of the tassels under lighting immediately elevate the overall level of splendor. The red cape overlay adds an extra layer of depth to the upper body. To keep the costume clean and neat, moving around in a crowded venue like an ACG expo really requires extra caution, as it's very easy to get stepped on or bumped into.

A lot of thought went into the makeup and styling, especially the red and white wig. The white highlighted sections needed special attention when combing to ensure the flow looked naturally dynamic during live snapshots. For the eye makeup, I chose vibrant blue contact lenses, paired with long, curled eyelashes and delicately blended eyeshadow, hoping to give the gaze a focused yet lively quality. Combined with the pink bow on top, the small blue bow, and the horse ears, although there are many elements around the head, everything looked extremely neat and high-quality after styling.

During the shoot, the photographer really understood the strengths of this styling. Instead of just having me pose statically, they guided me to perform dynamic, high-energy movements. Poses like kneeling on one knee with one leg extended, or the leaping moment with one foot raised and one hand held high, actually tested the flexibility of the costume and physical coordination. While the white tall boots look great, non-slip soles and good support are crucial when executing such wide-range movements, otherwise it's easy to lose balance. The photographer was adept at utilizing the dark background of the expo venue in tandem with powerful flash units. The rim lighting outlining the body looked fantastic, ensuring the high-saturation colors of the costume weren't washed out at all.

As the creator who both starred in the anime-style photoshoot and handled the post-processing, I inspected the flaws and highlights of every photo even more meticulously during editing. Details like whether the flying hair strands looked natural, whether the asymmetric black-and-white gloves were fully captured, and whether the edges of the skirt and boots were sharp. I am very pleased with the final result, which retains a sense of reality while enhancing the overall color vibrancy. The interweaving of red, blue, and white stands out strikingly against the dark background.

In the noisy expo environment, wearing this heavy gear all day was indeed stuffy and physically demanding. However, whenever I stood before the camera and struck those heroic poses, I felt myself fully entering the state of mind the character demands. That core belief of "never giving up" is not only the charm inherent to the character itself, but also an attitude needed when executing such a complex cosplay. Seeing this final set of photos filled with dynamism and positive energy made all the sweat beforehand completely worthwhile. This is the complete log of cosplaying my ultimate favorite at the expo. I hope everyone can feel the live atmosphere of the moment and my dedication through these cosplay photography records.
