Bringing Ajitani Hifumi's iconic elements from Blue Archive into reality, this yellow checkered dress rendered a far better texture under outdoor sunlight than imagined. Choosing this outfit was mainly due to its lightweight fabric and the delicate lace trim along the hem edge, which not only enriches visual layering but also creates a lovely drape when walking or sitting down. Paired with black-and-white bow hair accessories on the side and her signature yellow loop headpiece overhead, the overall outfit completeness is fully showcased.
The location for this shoot was the peripheral streets of the China International Comics Festival (CICF) Guangzhou Anime Convention, with nearby green-filled areas serving as backdrops. Natural light that day was exceptionally bright; to avoid overly harsh direct noon sunlight, the photographer and I specifically picked a time when light softened to capture candid shots beneath dappled tree shadows. The perspective in photo one, sitting on the edge of a flowerbed curb, allows legs to extend naturally to display overall proportions, while the Peroro plushie held in hand sits at just the right height to give the frame a clear visual focal point.
Speaking of the white chunky-heeled platform sandals on my feet, their retro silhouette pairs wonderfully with the bright, refreshing ensemble, while the thick heels offer ample stability to support a full day of walking. Throughout shooting, the photographer exercised meticulous control over composition and light, utilizing wide apertures to blur out background pedestrians, guardrails, and vehicles, locking focus firmly onto the portrait. Standing beside guardrails, sitting on steps, or simply interacting with the Peroro plushie—these everyday movements came alive vibrantly before the lens.
For cosplay, capturing the everyday feel of Ajitani Hifumi from Blue Archive was my ultimate goal for this project. Without needing exaggerated facial expressions, a natural backward glance or looking down at props in hand, combined with dappled sunlight on hair and dress fabric, allows narrative flavor to flow effortlessly. On summer streets in Guangzhou, gentle breezes sway the light golden wig and skirt hem, which paired with lush green shade forms that quintessentially refreshing summer scene.
As a thoroughly executed outdoor street photoshoot attempt, collaboration with the photographer went seamlessly. @奇怪的夜猫😺 excels at capturing fine details within natural streetscapes; whether stone textures near foot level or nearby yellow zebra crossings, elements were skillfully utilized to enrich the frame's color balance. Though shooting on convention peripheries meant occasional passing pedestrians, we located relatively quiet corners to secure a highly satisfying set.
Reviewing this photo set in the end, that sunny, effortless ease still shines through clearly. With wardrobe details meticulously fulfilled, the photographer's composition and lighting allowed this Ajitani Hifumi outfit to flourish outdoors. Whether casual sitting poses or standing moments holding the plushie slightly high, every frame feels like a genuine record of walking through streets, conveying the character's signature gentle yet lively everyday aura. I hope these frozen moments of light and shadow become a meaningful memory from this Guangzhou Anime Convention journey.
