In the world of Blue Archive, Grinning Professor's intellectual temperament—calm with a hint of lazy ease—has always been a style I deeply wanted to portray. This time, I specially prepared this vintage study-themed photo set to recreate her everyday state during work or research.

Regarding hair and makeup, this iconic outfit took quite a bit of thought. To recreate the character's signature long blonde hair, I selected a pale gold wig with smooth fiber texture, trimming and styling the bangs into a natural straight-fringe arc; paired with a soft jet-black beret, the head styling was settled. For eye makeup, since Grinning Professor features signature emerald green eyes, I specifically wore green contact lenses and blended reddish-pink eyeshadow around the eye sockets. This added a subtle manga-like blush and eye-socket depth, making the gaze appear gentler and clearer.

Outfit-wise, I used a classic modified sailor-collar black long-sleeved uniform; white trimming along the collar created a classic contrast with dark tones, while the striking bright red bow tie dead center lit up the monochrome grey-and-black palette. The lower body's black skirt features white ruffle trimming, adding a playful touch to an otherwise serious attire. To match the character's casual standing and sitting postures, I paired it with black tights and black-and-white color-blocked casual sneakers—this mix-and-match in a Black tights outfit found a wonderful balance between student vibes and relaxed everyday ease.

The set design and props served as a major highlight for this series. The venue's dark solid-wood bookcases were filled with foreign-language books of various colors; the alternating shades along book spines reflected authentic, mottled textures under warm yellow overhead lighting. The desktop featured not only a retro rotary telephone, but also an ornate carved brass clock and a vintage suitcase, instantly pulling the scene back into a Victorian-era study atmosphere. To boost lived-in storytelling, stacks of yellowed vintage stationery and open leather-bound books were scattered across the desk—as if the character had just been examining research materials before receiving a crucial phone call.

Throughout shooting, the photographer paid close attention to camera angle variations and spatial compression. For close-up shots, the photographer used book stacks on the desk as blurred foreground while I leaned over the desk edge looking toward the lens—placing the character squarely at the visual focal point while emphasizing immersion surrounded by knowledge. Mid-shots focused on revealing bookcase depth and character interactions with props: picking up the retro phone handset or bowing my head to turn yellowed pages were executed naturally and fluidly, avoiding stiff or forced poses.

This photo set tested facial expression control particularly well. Grinning Professor isn't an overly hyper active personality, so my expression largely stayed in a slightly absent-minded, gentle, yet focused state. Subtle hand gestures—like resting my chin thoughtfully or slightly furrowing eyebrows while sorting papers—vividly outlined the character's internal tension. Black tights paired with casual shoes naturally extended long leg lines when seated; combined with warm, dark-toned lighting, it delivered a unique charm that blends an academic aura with everyday approachable appeal.

Compared to bright outdoor shoots done in the past, this dark-toned vintage study theme was far more demanding on lighting and angle coordination. We deliberately used side-backlighting and reflectors to shape rim light around facial features, keeping hair strand layers distinct while helping skin appear pale, porcelain, and translucent. The final amber and warm brown tones of these photographs produced stunning results, making one almost smell the faint dry scent of old book pages under autumn sunshine. Performing an Anime cosplay of such an everyday yet intellectually captivating character—from wig brushing and uniform ironing to interacting with every vintage piece on set—was an immensely enjoyable process. I hope this photo set brings Blue Archive's tranquil library ambiance to everyone.
