Photographing Ajitani Hifumi this time was quite special, primarily because substantial care went into managing the wardrobe and coordinating movements. The white sailor-collar coat with its large yellow bow, paired with a dark grey cross-lace pleated skirt, created an exceptionally fresh, crisp school aesthetic. Naturally, the most striking visual element was combining Black stockings with white shoes; under the bridge's bright sunlight, the interplay of light and shadow flattered the leg contours beautifully.
The weather during the shoot was fantastic, filled with blue skies and white clouds. Because the breeze on the bridge was fairly strong, I had to stay mindful of my wig strands and skirt drape at all times. I donned the character's signature yellow halo alongside the backpack featuring small white wings—prop fidelity is vital. Inside the backpack, I stored fill lights and small photo accessories; when looking down at the phone for a shot, I deliberately adjusted my angle to keep facial shadows and highlights looking natural.
The photographer relied on numerous low-angle upward perspectives to elongate my silhouette, creating a remarkably clean frame alongside the white railing backdrop. Post-processing focused mainly on fine-tuning the blue saturation of the sky and removing distracting utility poles, all while preserving crisp lighting contrast and natural skin texture. The day was physically tiring as I constantly cycled through poses on the bridge searching for optimal compositions, pausing several times to smooth out the sailor collar to keep it looking crisp.
Still, the finished photos brought pleasant surprises, especially the semi-sheer sheen of the Black stockings in direct sunlight, which contrasted vividly with the white bridge structure and the Sailor suit ensemble. Faithful to the character's personality, I strove to embody her energetic, cheerful nature throughout the session while weaving in my own interpretations. This photoshoot gathered various angles—looking back over the shoulder, gazing up into the sky, and focusing downward attentively. Beyond expressions, I wanted this set to highlight costume craftsmanship, including the lace trim along the skirt hem and the backpack's tactile finish. Posing by the edge of the bridge demanded safety awareness, so movements were kept controlled and deliberate.
Although moving around in the complete ensemble was somewhat cumbersome, the abundant sunshine provided a wonderful lift, keeping my spirits high throughout the day. I was very satisfied with the hair, makeup, and posing synergy—blending the character's everyday essence into an outdoor street-style shoot felt remarkably convincing. All in all, this documents a genuine, sun-drenched photography journey.
