[Altria cosplay] Return to the Midsummer Courtyard: A Refreshing Moment in Fate/Grand Order

This photoshoot set embraced a refreshing summer theme, choosing Altria's summer swimsuit design from Fate/Grand Order. To capture that sunlit, shimmering water-like texture, I deliberately selected an inflatable swim ring made of transparent material filled with fine glitter, as its refraction embellished the frame wonderfully. While the prep work was tedious, the on-set results turned out great.

The makeup process was noticeably more complex than usual. The blonde wig needed straight blunt bangs to highlight the character's poised demeanor. To achieve those crystal-clear green eyes, I tested contact lenses of various diameters, eventually settling on a pair with defined patterns. Blending the eye makeup was crucial—it couldn't look muddy from being too heavy, yet had to preserve depth in the gaze—so I deepened the outer corners with pale pink eyeshadow and paired it with bright red lips to enrich facial saturation. Because it was a halter swimsuit with minimal fabric, we applied extensive internal securing, such as anti-slip tape and silicone covers, to prevent slipping or wardrobe malfunctions during movement.

The actual shoot took place indoors against a light gray backdrop, adjusting light reflections to simulate the ambient glow by the water. The glossy surface of the transparent swim ring was tricky, often creating messy glare. We spent significant time angling it so the flash highlights landed cleanly on the glitter flakes, creating colorful sparkles that brought out the dreamy atmosphere. The fruit tea prop in hand was very practical; the warm yellow of the lemon slices and tender green leaves nicely balanced the cooler blue-and-white tones. We also experimented with water mist and droplets to mimic the glistening look of just stepping out of the water. Poses were kept relaxed, such as extending a hand toward the camera or placing a hand gently over the chest for a soothing expression.

Post-processing revolved around texture and lighting. Refined skin tones brought out a porcelain-like glow, enhancing elegance. Chaotic reflections on the backdrop and swim ring were softened while keeping dreamy bokeh intact. Lip saturation was slightly boosted to accentuate facial expression.

For Altria, what I love most is her relaxed charm away from solemn duties. The swimsuit naturally brings a striking contrast. Because this set aimed for translucence and purity, I avoided exaggerated movements, conveying a languid yet regal composure through gaze and subtle expressions. The shooting day was quite exhausting—holding props and freezing poses for extended periods while managing harsh ring reflections—but seeing the raw frames made it all worthwhile. This cosplay photography exploration allowed for finer light control, and I hope this set delivers the envisioned charm of an ACG outdoor location feel indoors.
