The Yuyuantan cherry blossoms are in full bloom, and this set of "big fox" photos has finally been sorted out. The day of the shoot was actually a weekend, and the park was packed with people, but the angles we found were very clever, avoiding the crowded masses and capturing the sky full of white blossoms and the azure blue sky overhead into the viewfinder.
This time I cosplayed Kosaka Wakamo from Blue Archive. The design of the entire outfit is highly eye-catching; the dark-colored subtle pattern fabric paired with large cherry blossom prints, and the red-and-white striped borders with the distinctive pleated skirt beautifully integrate Japanese style and anime aesthetic. The red waistband, the iconic star halo headpiece on top, along with the fluffy ears and that super voluminous big tail—every detail went through meticulous refinement. To present the character's overall integrity, I also specially matched black leather gloves and an exquisite katana, props that made the overall silhouette more dimensional and full.
As for the makeup, thanks to teacher "Huantoumao" for the dedication. The red-brown eye makeup paired with yellow colored contacts, though seemingly simple, perfectly captured Wakamo's sly yet slightly tsundere temperament.
During the shoot, the headpiece was quite difficult to fix, and combined with the strong wind in the cherry blossom garden, I had to constantly keep an eye on the light and wind direction, for fear that the star halo would be blown over or the fluffy ears would deform. However, photographer "Didu Sheying Guiqi" is truly skilled at capturing candid moments. He used natural light to hit a beautiful rim light, keeping the photos both vibrant and textured. Especially that low-angle shot reaching out towards the sky, it completely released the character's mysterious and flamboyant feel.
Looking back now, although the shooting process was a bit hectic—shuttling through the cherry blossom trees while carrying bags of props—the moment the shutter clicked, that feeling of resonating with the character's soul was incredibly magical. Being able to blend a beloved character into real springtime scenery and record this fate with a lens is perhaps the greatest joy that cosplay photography brings to me. The sunshine, petals, and the sound of the wind that day were all preserved in the frame along with this charming big fox.
