[March 7th Cosplay] Ice Blue Flower Ocean and Pink Wispy Hair: Freezing the Awakening Moment of the Astral Express Girl

"I named myself after the date I was reborn—March 7th! On the very March 7th this lady woke up, 'March 7th' was born!" This time in the studio, I turned this line from the character's setting into a reality in images. Today, I want to record and share this shooting experience and styling insights of restoring the Astral Express girl from a first-person perspective.
Let's first talk about the details of this costume. The main color scheme of this setting is a patchwork of white, light blue, and pale pink, which is visually very refreshing. When preparing for this cosplay, what I focused on the most was actually the gradient treatment of the sleeves, as well as the black neckband at the collar and the cascading thin blue ribbon; if the material isn't right, it can easily lose its original fluffiness. The cosplay outfit chosen this time is excellent in fabric texture; the loose drape of the cuffs is just right, and paired with the white main body, it doesn't look overly bulky overall but carries a lightweight and agile feel.
The coordination of hairstyle and makeup was also a focus of this shoot. The light pink short hair required volumizing treatment at the roots, and the height and curvature of the bangs determine the face-shaping effect. The stylist and I adjusted it repeatedly several times to achieve this pink wig styling with an airy, wispy state. Paired with bright blue colored contacts, it perfectly echoed the blue elements on the clothes, making the gaze look clearer and more translucent. The base makeup was given a very clean, dewy finish without too much contouring, striving to showcase the character's youthfulness. Tiny accessories like the black gloves and pink square earrings were also meticulously added, and I am quite satisfied with the overall accuracy myself.
Regarding the choice of shooting venue, the studio created a dreamy space with a patchwork of white and blue artificial flower oceans. The color of this background formed a great color complement with my pink hair, blue pupils, and the gradient colors on my costume. During the shoot, the photographer leaned towards soft, high-key diffuse reflection light in light processing, which reduces facial shadows, makes the overall atmosphere softer, and elevates this Cosplay photography session.
Regarding poses, I personally recommend the one holding a pink rose. On one hand, it can ease the awkwardness of hand placement and simulate the character's natural demeanor with a touch of curiosity and anticipation; on the other hand, it makes the composition of the frame richer and avoids an overly empty picture. Another sitting pose with hands folded over the chest better expresses the quiet and gentle side of the character. The use of props is crucial; this pink rose served as a visual focus on-site, guiding the audience's gaze effectively and making my interaction in front of the lens look more vivid.
Since the character's inherent personality is lively, uninhibited, and a bit childish, I didn't deliberately strike cold, rigid, or overly mature poses when facing the camera, but instead tried to relax my body language as much as possible. During the shoot, I chatted a lot with the photographer about emotional delivery techniques, including exactly where the eyes should look into the lens and what angle of a slight head tilt would look more natural. This coordination experience on-site is truly vital for producing a great Cosplay photography photoshoot.
Although the temperature was a bit high on the day of the shoot, making it inevitably stuffy and sweaty to wear this outfit since makeup and hair needed periodic adjustments (a slight lapse of attention could easily mess up the wig), seeing the texture of the final photos and the frame where the blue-and-white flower ocean complemented the pink styling made me feel all the hard work was worth it. This studio shoot around Diwang Plaza was truly a wonderful experience.
