When I put on this blue JK sailor uniform, I already knew I wanted to capture a different kind of daily-life vibe. The classic Saber image is always accompanied by heavy knight armor, but switching to this dark blue sailor uniform and pure white over-knee socks immediately created a strong visual contrast. The black thick-soled loafers stepping on the concrete floor of the exhibition hall, combined with the acoustic echo of the vast space, actually created a youthful atmosphere of preparing for battle after school.
In terms of styling, the focus was entirely on recreating the hair and eye details. To present the smooth yet airy texture of the golden wig in the photos, I spent a long time carefully styling it with hairspray and setting spray before setting off. Especially for that iconic, highly upturned ahoge, I specially used several support methods to fix it, so it could maintain this tension-filled yet not stiff curve. As for the eyes, after putting on these emerald green colored contacts, my gaze became sharper than usual, which, paired with the naturally cool eye makeup, perfectly matched the majestic yet aloof aura of Artoria that everyone remembers.
Because the light source conditions during the shoot were quite special—the top of the exhibition hall was filled with densely arranged circular spotlights—a direct front light would easily make the face look flat. Therefore, the photographer chose to use a softbox to supplement the front facial light, while utilizing strong rim lighting to outline the body silhouette. Thus, in the final photos, you will see a very clear highlight outline around the character's edges, and even the tips of the hair are glowing, truly echoing the "sparkling" state mentioned in the post.
Among these few photos, my personal favorite is the first one with a backward glance composition. With one leg slightly kicked back, combined with the wrapping sensation of the white socks, the entire posture appears lively and vibrant. At the same time, the pleat details of the school uniform's pleated skirt and the strap details of the black leather single-shoulder bag can be clearly seen. The second one is a snapshot of standing sideways holding a long prop, and the third one is a completely frontal standing pose. I personally love this restrained and concise way of presenting the uniform—the actions don't need to be too exaggerated; combining the red necktie, dark blue hemline, and metal-buckled leather bag in the same frame makes the overall visual structure very balanced. The fourth half-body close-up focuses on the moment our eyes meet.
The long, blue wrapped object I held in my hand is actually the iconic prop everyone is very familiar with. To fit the overall daily campus style baseline, I specially chose this version wrapped in dark blue fabric and wound with red rope. Compared to holding the hard weapon itself directly, this fabric texture adds a bit of realistic life atmosphere instead. The black leather square bag I carried is also an important component of the styling; its own weight is actually not light, but the special luster of the leather looks very high-textured under the flash.
There were actually many other attendees and clutter at the convention photos scene, but the photographer opened up the aperture wide, compressing the complex background light sources into large and small circular bokeh spots. Combined with the tiny dust particles naturally floating in the air illuminated by the flash, it instead enveloped the frame in a dreamy, film-grain-like atmosphere. This processing method not only highlighted the foreground subject but also endowed the entire set of photos with a unique figure-level quality. Blending the heavy sense of this Knight King with the light elements of a daily JK creates a very interesting visual attempt, and the overall atmosphere was controlled within a relatively relaxed yet serious tone.
