[Yixuan Cosplay] Zenless Zone Zero On-Site: Can This Hold You Back?

Stepping into the convention venue in Yixuan's outfit, the first line that popped into my head was the title itself: \"Can this hold you back?\" To capture her serene composure blended with a cool, distant aura, I paid special attention to keeping my body language relaxed during this Cosplay photography session. Utilizing low-angle seated and single-knee crouching poses, I avoided forced combat stances, responding to the camera with a casual, indifferent composure.

The highlight of this outfit lies in its mix of techwear and uniform elements. The vertical stripes of the black cinched-waist trench coat offer a fantastic texture under lights, while star details on the cuffs and the blue collar badge closely match the lore design in Zenless Zone Zero. The white multi-layered pleated skirt features gray subtle pattern details. Executing poses really tested skirt smoothness; to prevent exposure while crouching, I let the trench coat hem drape down naturally as coverage, preserving both her sharp look and a clean, natural camera framing.

The outdoor silver metal guardrails were readily available at the venue. Combined with cool-toned spotlights overhead, the primary color palette stayed controlled between black, white, gray, and blue. The camera's wide aperture created a shallow depth of field, blurring background crowds and booth ambient lights into soft bokeh. This highlighted the subject without letting the busy convention floor overwhelm the shot. Such light casting onto black patent high heels and tights created continuous, sleek highlight reflections.

Regarding pose choices: for the first picture's high stool seated pose, I specifically used a low angle. Since the leg and footwear designs carry significant weight in this Anime-style fashion look, a low angle guides visual focus toward slim ankles wrapped in heels and the sleek lines of semi-sheer black tights. The second crouching pose feels more casual; holding a prop card borrowed on-site and looking up into the lens added interactive presence. Maintaining this high-heel crouch actually required serious core strength to keep leg muscle lines smooth without looking strained while balancing on heels.

To maximize character charm, I adjusted the hair accessory placement multiple times. Positioning the black wavy hair clip too high or low diluted the original aura. The wig chosen was a slightly wavy white long straight wig; its advantage is flowing naturally in breeze, though it easily tangles around high-collared coats during movement. Fortunately, the photographer caught dynamic moments on-site, where floating hair strands and long white ribbons kept the shot lively.

For makeup, I opted for clean contours and cool-toned lower eyeliner over heavy full-rimmed eyeliner, giving the eyes a calm composure. A nude lip paired with matte base makeup complemented the character's dimensional face design. Walking around the hall for Convention photos in this outfit was quite a workout—especially in shiny metal-accented heels that make feet sore over time.

With every cosplay, what matters most is capturing that authentic atmospheric feel. Beyond outfit accuracy, emotional control is key. When posing, I consciously relax my jaw and shoulders to avoid looking tense. Reviewing raw shots after shooting gave off a quiet, pre-battle standoff atmosphere.

What pleases me most about these two shots is the color fidelity—no artificially boosted saturation or heavy filters, preserving natural light and shadow contrast. Hair sheen, black tights highlights, and patent heel textures were all preserved through bright highlights. Authentic texture proves far more enduring than stacked post-processing effects.

My personal favorite detail in this Anime-style fashion piece is the waistline structure; though mostly covered by the coat, the interior tailoring prevents the outfit from bunching up when seated. The trench coat's natural drape is extremely pose-friendly, flattering hip and thigh curves while centering visual focus on the waistline and face.
