This outdoor convention photos shoot was set in a venue surrounded by lush greenery and equipped with a set of wooden classroom desks and chairs. Happening right during a quick break at the convention, this look featuring a deep blue modified Chinese-style top paired with a white thigh-highs outfit and black shorts felt exceptionally immersive in such an everyday environment.
For the makeup, I opted for a relatively clean and sharp eyeliner style to make the eye makeup look more piercing, fitting the character's slightly cool temperament. Combined with the twin-tails hairstyle and the plush cat-ear hair accessories on top of my head, the atmosphere instantly leveled up. The light blue butterfly-shaped halo on top of my head was added through post-processing; to make it look more natural and translucent, I specifically adjusted its semi-transparency and edge glow effects.
Regarding prop choices, the tanghulu in my hand and this classroom desk were definitely the keys to this photo drop. Walking around while holding the tanghulu made the postures quite vivid, conveying a relaxed and playful emotion. When I sat or squatted by the edge of the desk, it was to highlight the overall tailoring of the outfit and the lines of my legs. The opacity of the white stockings was just right, and paired with the black thick-soled leather shoes, they provided a stable visual center of gravity for the lower body.
The shooting process was actually quite tiring. Especially for one set where I had to squat behind the desk, rest my chin on the desk edge, and grip the edge with both hands to maintain balance—it required quite a bit of core strength, while still needing to maintain a natural gaze and expression in front of the lens. The detailed design of this outfit is also something I really love: the green accessories at the collar and the white lace trimming on the skirt hem and cuffs break the monotony of the dark clothing, making the overall layering much richer.
When picking out the photos, I personally favored the sitting posture with one leg lifted and resting on the chair, because this pose smoothly displays the length of the white stockings and the leg lines while keeping it natural. Compared to forced rigid posing, this kind of casual movement immersed in the scene often carries a greater sense of relaxation. The outdoor light during the convention was quite complex, but thanks to the photographer's excellent control over the tree shadows and natural light, the depth of field and light and shadow of this set of photos turned out beautifully clean. The dappled light and shadow under the tree shade fell onto the walkway, endowing the photos with a school afternoon atmosphere.
During the shoot, there were actually many passing tourists in the surroundings. Fortunately, the photographer used a telephoto lens combined with a shallow depth of field to beautifully blur out the cluttered background colors and passersby, making the main subject pop out immediately. To handle the outdoor shoot, I specially chose a relatively lightweight fabric so it wouldn't feel too hot when moving around. Although the tanghulu prop in hand couldn't actually be eaten, as a visual anchor in the composition, it still gave the frames plenty of storytelling.
Overall, this was an attempt to blend the exquisite elements of the character with an everyday school style cosplay vibe. The moments when the twin-tails fluttered, the glossiness of the white stockings, and the various interactions with the desk all presented a subtle yet natural temperament through the lens. Before every shoot, I always repeatedly ponder the character's expressions and habits to ensure the facial expressions and body language convey enough spirit. This set of photos, from styling to location selection, reached my expectations for the character's style recreation, and the minor episodes during the shoot also turned into fun memories of this convention journey.
