[Sigewinne cosplay] Adorable Head Nurse at Guangzhou Firefly ACG Expo: Convention Photos

This convention shoot was a fresh new venture for me, centering around head nurse Sigewinne from Genshin Impact. The costume embraces a classic maid design in a blue-and-white palette, topped with an oversized bow and beast-ear accessories to convey a vibrant, gentle charm. Upon receiving the custom outfit, I found the skirt slightly heavier than expected; it flairs like a trumpet blossom in motion and reveals pronounced layers when spinning.

The shooting took place inside the hall at the Guangzhou Firefly ACG Expo, where backgrounds are notoriously cluttered. Fortunately, the photographer utilized a wide aperture to blur the bustling crowds and dense overhead lighting into beautiful bokeh circles. The scuffed gray concrete floor actually added a grounded texture to the frame.

The wig underwent several rounds of styling, using hairspray to lock the bangs and twin pigtails in place so they maintained clean curves during head turns and downward tilts. To match the character lore, I prepared a blue coffee mug featuring a deer design and a wooden tray as props. For posing, I tried serving coffee, lifting the skirt hem, and balancing on one leg. The coffee-serving gesture especially required balancing body weight while calibrating the forward reach of my hand to create natural interactivity—a pose we rehearsed many times to find the most relaxed state. Pairing chunky black leather shoes with over-the-knee White stockings visually elongated the leg silhouette under the convention lighting.

Handling the light was tricky, as strong overhead hall lighting often casts awkward facial shadows. The photographer used off-camera flash to counteract the overhead fixtures, making skin tones and the blue shades of the dress look translucent and clean. My legs grew tired after standing all day in stiff soles and repeatedly holding single-leg poses. The ruffled hem also risked tripping me up while walking, demanding constant vigilance.

Preparing this gear took notable effort—the pink emblem on a blue backing at the chest and the purple sleeve lace were hand-attached, while the wooden tray was sanded and polished for a natural finish. To avoid passersby in the crowded hall, we rotated between tucked-away corners and open floor areas. The photographer adopted a lower, upward angle, which visually stretched my leg proportions and accentuated the White stockings and black platform shoes. I also added slight bends and head tilts to keep the set dynamic.

In post-processing, while preserving the skirt lace texture and concrete grain, leg lines were subtly refined and overall exposure was brightened to highlight the clean blue-and-white scheme. The complex convention lighting meant waiting for stable light pockets, and my makeup was locked in with heavy setting techniques to endure the humid hall. Despite the exhaustion and crowded floor, capturing the character's warmth and liveliness through these snapshots made the experience incredibly rewarding.
