As Okhema's seamstress and one of the Chrysos Heirs of Amphoreus, bringing this Aglaea look to fruition required immense dedication from prep to final shots. First came the wig: I chose heat-resistant synthetic fiber in a creamy pale yellow, trimmed blunt straight bangs, and gave the ends an inward curl, accessorizing both sides with golden feather ornaments and small white blossoms to channel the character's ethereal presence. For makeup, a peachy-pink palette was paired with blue-green contact lenses to highlight her divine yet aloof temperament.
Recreating the wardrobe was the true centerpiece of this project. To convey the opulence of the white base with gold trim, the inner dress was crafted from heavy, draped satin. The three-dimensional golden filigree across the chest, waist, and hips was hand-carved from EVA foam, spray-painted, and layered with metallic UV resin, achieving sculpted relief without becoming suffocatingly heavy during the shoot. The halter neckline and high-slit skirt placed considerable restrictions on movement; I applied anti-slip strips along the inner seams beforehand and styled a black leather Thigh ring around the thigh, which both enriched the visual layering and kept things securely in place when stepping forward. The armlets and gold rings on the wrists were adjusted repeatedly for tension so they wouldn't slide when lifting props.
As for the props, the golden spear underwent weight reduction, though carving the spearhead's intricate filigree still consumed extensive time. The golden apple prop was finished with mirror-chrome paint, catching gorgeous glints under intense studio light. The shoot location featured a white set adorned with Gothic tracery windows and lush arrangements of pure white and sunny yellow blossoms, constructing a sanctuary atmosphere. To complement the setting, the lighting artist deployed abundant rim and side-back lighting alongside golden bokeh effects to simulate descending holy light.
In front of the lens, I had to maintain an imposing, dignified posture at all times. Whether capturing the ethereal serenity of cradling an orb of light or the commanding sovereignty of raising the golden apple, the gaze and posture demanded absolute steadiness. Because the train was so long, every seated pose or shift in stance required meticulously arranging the fabric to prevent unsightly creasing. The entire shoot was not only a test of physical endurance, but also an immersive deep dive into understanding the character.
While the setup and shoot were thoroughly exhausting, seeing the light, shadow, and garment textures fuse seamlessly in the final photos made every bit of effort worthwhile. Now this outfit needs to go to dry cleaning—clearing away all the gold dust and flower petals will surely keep me busy for a while.
