[Aglaea Cosplay] Honkai: Star Rail: Golden Scepter and Classical Fantasy

Preparing for this Aglaea Cosplay shoot from Honkai: Star Rail took about half a month of pre-production. The most demanding aspect of the costume was the three-dimensional golden acanthus scrollwork ornament across the waist and torso; to achieve optimal reflectivity under studio lights, we consulted extensively with the prop maker and tested several materials before finalizing it. The white floor-length gown features a high side slit, with a lustrous satin inner layer spliced with orange-gold sheer tulle on the outside, creating rich visual depth in motion. Styling the Long blonde hair wig also had to harmonize with the garment's fluid drape; rather than making it overly exaggerated, we retained natural, cascading waves with light, airy bangs. For makeup, the green contact lenses and reddish-pink eyeshadow smudged around the eyes were designed to echo the character's mysterious, noble aura, completed with a dewy peach-orange lip glaze.

For the golden scepter and golden apple held in my hand, weight was deliberately added during fabrication to give a genuine tactile sensation of commanding sovereign authority. On the day of the shoot, setting up the scene took immense thought. The white sheer draperies and artfully scattered ornate gilded frames created a vintage palatial ambiance, flanked by mannequins draped in white cloth and adorned with golden necklaces and bracelets—some even cradling golden apples. The floor was staged with white Roman column pedestals, carved steps, and scattered golden leaf accents, alongside a gilded birdcage and a sunburst-shaped mirror frame. In terms of overall illumination, we primarily utilized warm golden side-backlighting to accentuate the metallic gold textures of the garment and the translucent radiance of the Long blonde hair, making the white-and-gold color scheme look remarkably clean and cohesive, radiating a true Divine aesthetic.

Considering Aglaea's character attributes, pose choreography drew inspiration from classical Greek style sculpture postures. The standing stance remained upright and commanding, while seated poses extended the leg lines gracefully, harmonizing with the high-slit skirt to exhibit timeless classical elegance. To capture the precise split-second the skirt billowed, my assistant continuously fanned air from behind, undergoing dozens of takes before nailing several satisfying dynamic frames. Because this shoot was conducted as an offline workshop, during shooting breaks I exchanged numerous thoughts with fellow creators on lighting techniques and composition—such as using the golden picture frame in the foreground to heighten spatial depth and perspective. The entire photoshoot went wonderfully smoothly, so I've curated a selection of final cuts to document the complete journey from makeup and styling to prop fabrication and set construction in this Aglaea Cosplay.
