For this self-photo studio shoot, the original idea was to take a serious set of atmospheric bed portraits, and I even prepped plenty of tutorial-worthy posing tricks. But once standing in front of the lens, I realized that avoiding stiff poses requires more than forced posture—the key lies in building a natural rapport with the space and props. The outfit chosen was an Alice-themed tiered Lolita dress; the interplay of mint green and black-and-white lace pushed the youthful vibe to the max, while the layered ruffles of the skirt looked especially light and airy against the sheer drapes.
The standout highlight was the headpiece: a miniature carousel combined with oversized bunny ears that instantly amplified the dreamy, fairytale atmosphere. The wig featured high-contrast black-and-white split curls, which, paired with blue-green lenses and a delicate beauty mark beneath the eye, delivered a subtle anime Alice charm. In terms of props, the giant purple bunny plushie carried half the interaction workload. During the shoot, I talked to it, hugged it, and even leaned back on it like a pillow—when your body connects naturally with these props, the camera captures genuinely lively moments.
To overcome awkwardness in front of the camera, my personal Photography pose tutorial tip is not to stare solely at the lens, but to interact with the photographer or the plushie in your hands.
