For this Elysia Cosplay, just the wig alone took a long time to adjust. To match the character's nimble feel, the layered pink gradient and the curvature of the bangs were trimmed and restyled three times. Regarding the clothing, the wing decoration and tassel pendant on the chest are the visual highlights. To achieve that translucent texture, pearlescent acrylic sheets were selected, combined with hand-painted gradient patterns, which reflect different lusters under various lighting conditions.
The white skirt section uses a crisp, thick satin to support the fluffy shape, while the dark lining fabric and golden piping are precisely aligned to ensure it won't flip out while walking. The mirror selfie in the second picture actually showcases the overall proportions better. The high-slit and leg strap design has high requirements for the pattern structure. I repeatedly adjusted the waistline position at the tailor's to achieve a balance between the cutouts of the upper body and the lines of the lower body for this Cosplay outfit. For the makeup, to achieve that dreamy 2D character recreation, I chose pink-and-blue colored contacts, slightly elongated and upturned the eyeliner, and used a rosy mauve lip color layered with glossy lip gloss to give the expression a more approachable look.
The shooting scene was specially set up in a place with a European carved mirror and hanging greenery. The natural light and mirror reflections excellently highlight the layers of the costume and the translucency of the hair color for this Photography selfie session. Every time I do a character with such rich details, the most time-consuming part is not putting on the clothes, but how to make the character "come alive" through makeup, hair, and postures. Elysia's liveliness and sweetness are not a superficial silliness, but carry a calm composure that sees through everything. Therefore, during the mirror selfie, I intentionally tucked my jawline a bit to make my gaze look more gentle and firm. From wig adjustments to costume sewing and finally the shoot, I thoroughly enjoyed the entire process. Because of love, I am willing to nitpick every single detail. I hope this dedication can be transmitted through the photos.
