[Elysia Cosplay] Honkai Impact 3rd, Capturing the Romantic Atmosphere of the Messenger of Love

When shooting this Elysia Cosplay Messenger of Love battlesuit, I specifically chose a relatively dark background at the end of the corridor. The ceiling light provided a perfect side light source, allowing for even lighting on the front and side to highlight the texture of the outfit's Pink, white and red color scheme. Compared to crowded areas, this environment eliminates distractions and focuses the attention on the character itself. The costume details required careful handling; the mesh and straps of the red corset needed multiple adjustments when putting it on to ensure an upright waistline and present the designed slimming effect. The two different colored rose ornaments on the chest, paired with the semi-transparent white high collar and the red ribbon around the neck, create a rich layered look. A light pink wig was used, which, combined with purple-blue contact lenses, made the eyes look more vibrant. The base makeup was kept translucent without using overly heavy foundation, avoiding a mask-like appearance under the venue's lighting. The lines of the eyebrows and eye makeup were drawn as softly as possible to match the setting. The heart-shaped decorations on the gloves and the structure of the sleeves are very interesting, and these details are better showcased during the finger-heart gesture. Since the glove material is on the stiffer side, the fingers need to be tightly controlled when making the heart shape to keep it looking natural. For the skirt-lifting pose, attention must be paid to the stress on the petticoat to avoid stepping on the hem. In terms of props, the red rose accessories look very full in the dim light; although they are somewhat inconvenient to carry during the shoot, they are necessary for the visual effect. Several different camera angles were used during the shoot; for the frontal finger-heart shot, a focal length of around 50mm was chosen to naturally capture the facial proportions. Meanwhile, the angle of the reflector was adjusted to ensure the catchlights in the eyes were bright enough. Some passersby would stop to watch and compliment the beautiful costume—this face-to-face feedback is a unique joy of taking a Convention photo. Post-processing mainly focused on unifying the colors, slightly darkening the shadows of the background while retaining the highlight details of the clothes to make the main Pink, white and red color scheme stand out more. Excessive skin smoothing was avoided to preserve skin texture and prevent an unrealistic, plastic look. The direction of the catchlight is very important during shooting; a slight deviation can make the eyes look lifeless. This time, I deliberately used the reflection from the ceiling light to create the catchlight, making the facial expressions look much more vivid. Through this shoot, I also gained some experience in taking a Convention photo in low-light environments. The design of this Messenger of Love is indeed exquisite, and both the material and cut are very distinctive. Although the overall outfit is troublesome to put on and take off, shooting this character is still a very happy thing. If there is a chance in the future, I will try to shoot more atmospheric works under indoor natural light or sunset environments.
